Very Sad Day For Me.
« on: October 22, 2004, 01:14:00 PM »

So after putting up with little things going wrong with my Ranger (Passanger door & window is out of whack, Rear window leaks, air bag light on dash stays on.) I decieded to take it to my local Ford delearship, and get it repaired under warranty. I took it in at 7:30 on Wensday morning, the day we had scheduled to bring it in. Later that day, I got a call that the rear window would need to be replaced, and it wasn't covered by warranty. dry.gif So I said, "Whatever, just fix it." and went on asking them about the other things, which they then said, our tech that covers those details isn't here today... I shruged it off, somewhat irritated now. The next day, they called at 4:30 PM, saying that the tech still isn't in, but they did repair the rear window. By now, I'm pissed, considering that my car was suppose to be done by the afternoon of the first day, and now they're telling me, that it'll be done on friday, maybe moday! It gets worse tho. I'm talking to her on the phone, and I question (very politly wink.gif ) why they could get the rear window repaired, noteing that it wasn't covered by warranty and I would be paying for it, but the other window is unable to be repaired at the time. She begins talking around in circles, bullshitting me constantly. So after getting off work at 5:00, I took a ride up there(hitched a ride rather, this whole time, I've been having to bum rides everywhere I go). After a "nice" talk to the manager, they agree to give us a rental car to drive. My dad agrees (I'm under 21, so I can't have a rental car in my name, or drive one by myself for that matter.), and they say that they can get us a tarus. I said sure, but than some woman beside us begins complaining about the van that the dealership tried giving her as a rental, saying that she wasn't used to cars that big. The rental car woman then asks my dad if a van would be alright, and they would give the tarus to the other woman. My dad agrees, and I figured I'd be driving my dad's '04 F-150, since I'm to young to drive rentals, I was wrong. So now, I'm stuck with a soccer-mom mobile, an '03 Freestar...

I know it was wrong to be mad at her, but you don't know how pissed I was about not having my car fixed, now being two days after the day they said it'd be ready. Trying to juggle rides to and fro school and work, while only 2 out of the other 3 people in my household drive, and all of us have full time jobs, is annoying and hard.

It's nice, it had some power, 4.6 litre V6, but the cool factor ain't there. Might sound sweet when you come sqwealing around the corner, until people notice it's a mini van. I got my car back, and I'm so happy. They had to replace the back window, and reseal the passanger door and window, and they went ahead and did an oil change. The prices ended up like this. Back window $120, Passanger door $100 (warranty), Passanger window $80, Oil change $20. They said because of the wait I had to go through, that they did all that work for free, all I would have to pay for was the oil. They went ahead and did a check on my tires, washer fluid, and exhaust system, and filled up my gas tank (thats 30+ bucks in itself). So in the end, I'm pretty happy.

Minivans rock. They got space for all your stuff, they got big power, and chicks like a man with a van (big back seats, plenty o room for subs).

Other than that though, yeah they suck.

^^^Glad you read...
It was a rental, all they had was the van and a Tarus(sp?), and some chick got the Tarus
My dad's got an '04 F-150 quad cab FX4... that's usually my weekend car.
I got a '02 Ranger Ext cab, it's nice, some room. So, looking in the rear view mirow in the van made it seem like the rear window was miles back.

I did read, the post about the SUV was in reply to Altima's. He is saying that minivans rock cause the have all that space. I was just saying SUV's do too and they are better than minivans. I know thats all the rental place had. I just hate minivans and would rather walk anywhere then ever drive one. In fact, I hate them so much that I refuse to even ride in one.

I was looking at those Xterras for sometime... the 2005s look nice, but the inside isn't all that appealing.

I was considering selling my turck(heh truck, damn typos) for sometime, and on the top of my list was an '05 Xterra 4x4, '02 Trailblazer 4x4(love those SUVs), or an '02 Ext Cab 4x4 F-150. After considering the effort I'd have to put into selling my car, and finding a new one, and the lack of money I had, I now got my eyes set on an '02 Yamaha R6. wink.gif I should have enough for it by mid summer, and sometime in '06, you'll see me in the AMAs. tongue.gif

Well, I guess I got my wish.
I stopped by Circuit City on the way home from work to pick up some ink for my printer. I got in my car, started her up, and noticed a bit more shaking than usually, but thought nothing of it. I went down the street a bit and rolled up to a red light. It turned green, I gave it gas, the car got up to about 25 miles per hour, than stalled out... I pulled it over, cranking it up and revving the engine, but it wouldn't push anymore than 3k rpms.
I call up roadside, tell the what's up,and they say they'll send a tow truck and a rental car. An hour later (I was pleased it was that quick), the tow truck puled up with a white tarus on the back... the car I hoped for from the begining, but didn't want fter I took back the van. Not sure what was wrong with the truck, it hasn't been acting up before this, it just happend. Kind of sucks cause I was scheduled to get a line-x liner on Thursday, but I guess that'll have to hold off.
I have no complaints, the people at the dealership agreed to tow and give me the rental for free, and the car should be covered under warrenty. The tarus ain't bad either, i's got some power under the hood, power everything, leather, key-less entry. I guess it's an upgrade for my truck. wink.gif
Oh well, shit happens.

Well, two days later, my local auto-repair dealership calls me up and tells me "We drove it 40 miles and counldn't find anything wrong with it." dry.gif
I take a trip up there to pick it up, and before making it out of the parking lot, it acts up again... Sure, you drove it 40 miles with no problems... dry.gif
So, I'm still stuck with the Tarus. When I dropped my car off they said that they've never heard of a problem like that. I'm guessing it's some sort of sensor if it lets it rev to 3k rpms and that's it. I'm just holding my breath, and hoping they get it fixed sometime soon, I'm not used ot sitting below all these other cars. wink.gif (Small cars suck. tongue.gif )
