its funny i was just thinking about trying to make a program of some sorts that can check for hacks and whatnot but it wouldnt be very easy..

and a word for the wise, if you still cant beat someone whos using glasswalls or whatever you need more practice,,

and theres plenty of good clans out there so dont let amatuer hack clans get ya down

any input on this topic from someone more knowledgeable in this field would be great

Its sucks cause every time i play halo i am called a cheater or "your using the glass hack" it just is annoying to here that from every body. Hell i won't even help anybody who wants the hacks i just say i dont know how because i HATE it soo much and even tho ppl use it. It DOES NOT make them any better it just makes them worse cause they depend on it.

no no no,,i didnt mean a prog that wouldnt allow users to cheat
but a prog that would maybe scan bitmaps against default maps or scan only a small portion of the map for changes,could be pc a pc app or and modded box app.
hell maybe even smack a timer on it and make a package out of it.

or seek out particular items like nothing but needler glass shaders
like i said,might be a little out of my league but ive been thinking about it for a while
props to jaysoccer for getting it out there cuz im far to lazy

A couple of things...
People always talk about how much people use hacks online. Personally, I have never used this against someone who I didn't know personally (as a joke). Second, sometimes people just see you, or they have ways of finding out (person on their xbox told them, person on another xbox on the phone told them, they saw you run there, etc.), but people always think they are using hacks. Sure, some people do use them, but thats a confidence issue. They only use them to make them feel better about beating people.
I'm pretty good, not trying to brag, but more often than not I beat people. And I have been accused of using hacks also, many times, as ya'll probably have. I have also thougth people use hacks, but you have to realize that it is just making you better. You get to be a better player, and thats why we play online. If people actually do use hacks as much as people accuse people of using them, then so what. Again, I'm not trying to brag, but I can beat alot of people that I play online.

If you know for a fact that they are cheating, then just quit out. But chances are (from my experience of being accused of hacking way too many times) is that people are just paranoid.

Also, a program like that is way too complex.

i know the general spawn points in everylevel. i know where a person will generally spawn with my given position. dont ask me how i know this. its just natural. i throw a grenade at a certain part of the map (even if i cannot see that place) and boom, it hurts them then i got around the corner and shoot them. they claim its cheating hack crap....lame.

is this glasswall hack in one of the trainers?? sounds interesting...

there was one time i beat this dude that was a powerup-whore, (he for sure was usin a timer) but he accused me having the glasswall hack. what happend was i had a noob on my box and he accidnetly switched over to this guys' team then quit out. so the camera followed him around. so i played around with him, hehe. but i wanted to see what this hack was all about.

Number One: There will never be a way to do an anti cheat. It would require extensive modding to the actual Halo xbe and thus cause desyncing.

Number Two: Very few people use hacks in the first place. If you are playing somone who is beating the shit out of you, EVEN if they are hacking, they are definatly better than you. In my experience, glasswall doesn't help a god damn bit. The only reason I released the hacks, was becuase I honestly hate greedy ass selfish people. No other reason than that people. The hacks are actually down on my site, and I don't plan on re-releasing them unless people actually want them.

couldn't the xbc client ftp into the xbox and do a crc/md5/sha-1 check on the xbe and map files before starting a game? that would rule out hacked xbes and modded maps

Yeah but the owners of xbc would have to dothat and write a program to check stuff like that. Very hard to do. If not impossible.
