i am trying to make custom skins for halo pc but everytime i try to use them they either turn out black or they are messed up, they have lines running through it and it is random colors.

i am using this software that converts the dds file into a bmp and then another program to convert it back. Is this the problem? Should i convert it into a jpg instead of a bmp?
all ur help is greatly appriciated

When you save your modified texture to a DDS file (or convert it to DDS) try making sure that you save it with no MIP maps. I don't know if this is a requirement for Halo, but it is with some other games that use DDS textures.

well tried lots of convertors too but they suck,
now using the dds plugin for photoshop and works all the time

i have photoshop on my pc (this is my brothers)
my pc has a blown mother board
