Is there any way to rebuild maps, i know people say it cant be done because of "size issues" but what if like you pulled the laser off the centinal in sp then deleted say the assult rifle bullet and imported the laser?

would that work?

It sounds easy but...

HMT doesnt allow xbox maps to be rebuilt (from what i have experienced and heard)
It just gives an arithmatic error. Even if you just batch extract then try to rebuild.
you could manually do it trhough hex (easier due to exact locations from HMT)

May aswell give it a go and post your findings.

Well i meant current version of HMT (v3).
However the size limit may be a problem with the amount of data you can inject.
Inside the xbox map files there are quite a lot of unused space so maybe with a bit of
rearrangement new data will be able to be injected.

If some one figured a way to make the cache files any size then that would allow a lot
more modding to be done. Maybe even more than Halo PC

Sorry, but I have no idea. If you really want to know, get on IRC on the freenode.net server, and join #halomods. You can ask someone there.

Ok I have never done it yet!

But when you extract the meta data you usually end up with 2 files (non recursive) a meta file and the xml.
the xml gives all the dependencies and chuncks of code that make up that object.
With recursive it includes all the dependencies as well.

So I was thinking find another object that had the same/more room for meta data and dependicies.
Then re-write them with the new chuncks from where the xml tells you.
