Specifically, I was trying to get various trainers to work with a couple of games (Spawn and Kill.Switch).  I follwed the .nfo directions and uploaded the new default.xbe file and their patched file into the main directory of each game.

When I go and try to run the game after resetting the system, the Xbox loading screen comes up and nothing happens.  I know it can't be the media check, all the files have been scanned.

So, what am I doing wrong here?  Thanks for the help!

uploaded xbe file and "pjx" file into main directory of Kill Switch and it worked great... make sure game runs w/o trainer and they retry.. possibly a corrupt xbe file... if needed, pull down trainer from http://xbox.cheats.de/... good luck!
