There needs to be a program that makes the textures crappy like the deafult cars.

May not necessarily be just textures.  The problem also lies with the models poly count.  In most cases, the problem is a combination of both.  Not to mention, when you have other custom cars on the screen.  You may have two custom cars that don't seem to cause lag by themselves, but soon as you get em both on screen, you'll start to see lag.  Its just something you gotta be willing to accept unless you have the modeling / texturing skills to produce more xbox-friendly vehicles.

Ok on the player skins, I will try the texture thing that sound like it will work.

On the wheel mod I got it in and it is working great. I have about 20 cars in now and a bike. I have been very selective about the models and have no slow down.

It is working great, I am going to start the liberty city mod today. Although I have a feeling it will all work I have a feeling I am goinghave to email the author of the mod to get he textures. as his installer only includeds the .gta.img file.
I will give an update when I can

Why not just use the textures from the xbox version of gta 3.

About the lagging thing, there's an easy remedy. Open the default.ide file with notepad and after the cars there is a value like 'richfamily' or 'executive', this value tells the game when to spawn the car on the road. All you do is change this value to 'ignore' for the cars you have replaced, hey presto, they don't spawn on the road anymore and are now unique cars. Just make sure you have one in a garage before you apply this fiddle.

By the way, cars that always spawn in the same place are unaffected, e.g. if you change the model and texture on the INFERNUS but set it to ignore so that it does spawn on the road, it is still ALWAYS outside Diaz's Mansion, same with the CHEETAH near Cortez's boat, the COMET at the Golf Course, the OCEANIC outside the Washington Beach Hotel and the SENTINEL, DELUXO, SABRETUR, HOTRING and SANDKING at B J's Car Showroom.

Plenty of cars there to safely change without dropping the frame rate and although they won't appear on the road, you all know where to find them.

Hope this has helped.

If GTA: LC is to be created for the xbox, then the textures should come from the xbox version of GTA3 which has much better graphics, I'd hate to see a port from the PC version.

At first I thought it would be easy to convert the mod but there's loads of other files which also need to be sorted so it's gonna take some time to get the GTA LC mod.

A link i posted a few pages back was a link to the gtaforums where someone already has done the full conversion of a city for Vice City. Not sure which city it was but maybe u can follow the same kind of steps and then convert GTA LC..
