maybe its the way the .exe uses the map information. Say the Xbox halo xbe unpacks the textures in a certain way and the PC version unpacks them differently.

eg. would the exe. use the text 'You were killed by a vehicle' the same way and time  as the XBE would?

In the HALO PC MAP file dir there are separate bitmaps.map and sounds.map files.  Unless someone gets pretty creative I don't see it happening.

you could run linux, run windows out of linux, then run halo under windows, lol, but of course your xbox wont be able to handle that much work, just be happy with halo for xbox and wait for halo 2

QUOTE (Booger Bob @ Oct 7 2003, 01:30 PM)
what about renaming the new pc maps to replace the halo ones?

In the pc version, the sound and bitmap files are external to the map file, and in the xbox version, the maps are all inclusive.

I guess if you put the sound file, bitmap file, and map files in your halo directory on your xbox hdd...there would be fewer hurdles to overcome.  However, there may be major differences in the layout and execution of the map files between the pc and xbox versions.

The easiest way to figure it out would be to try it.
