i tried copying maps from the original ghost recon into island thunder...they showed up but crashed during the loading sequence...something is obviously only  a little off.

That's probably because the gaming engine was tweaked a bit from GR to GR:IT.  Hopefully someone can make a patching tool.

I just saw something.  Some guy has found a way to get 999 rockets.  You need to register to the Xbox forums and I am not sure if it tells you how, but here is the link.

basically as I said, all I was trying to do was pull in some more maps...same maps for multi get old after a while, and it would be nice to have them all in the same game.

I just remembered something.... When people made mods for RS they would only work for RS and its expansions.... Its never worked for Rainbow Six or Raven Shield because they are different.... Anyway If GR: Desert Siege and GR: Island Thunder are only expansion packs for GR then all the mods for GR will work with all 3 GR's.... I personally only have GR on pc and GR: IT on xbox and i noticed that in that website for map mods and stuff that they are only for certain GR's..... So this is where the trouble starts..... If it does end up that no GR and GR: DS mods work for GR: IT then you can only download GR: IT mods because they will be the only mods that work on GR: IT on the xbox..... anyway I will download maps for GR, DS and IT (If I can find any IT maps) and I will test them all out.... This might take a while but I will let all of you know when I am done...

P.S. We should keep this topic alive because it was a few pages back in the forum so it could be difficult to find in the future because of all the new topics that keep popping up.... So I suggest that anyone that is going to help hack up GR: IT should post results and tutorials on this topic like I will be doing.... Alright I will be back soon!

WISH ME LUCK!!

Alright cheers man.... I appreciate it alot. It would really help if you could test what I come up with just incase it dont work on other peoples xbox's for some reason but when I get some maps on (Maybe even GR and GR: DS) then you guys will be the first to know and If I can get a website up then I will post you a link otherwise I could put it on one of yours...

Alright I am just downloading the maps now... I will be back when they are done

sure, sounds good. Its morning here right now, but I can test later on this evening.

if you can get on irc, head to #xbox-link so we can chat...

When adding custom maps they seem to show up in map selection no matter what dir they are in, you can have a whole new directory called mods and the new maps will show up. Unfortunately none have fully loaded.

Allen Poe-   You need the camapign.xml changed in the cache files to get the new ones to show up on campaign (they are on x or y maybe even both), though they will still not load. I think there are a few differences in the env or mis files....but havent figured it out yet.

Ok first thing.... Mike the campaign.xml is in the missions DIR and secondly I have just finished putting a GR map on that I downloaded. I have found alot of things that people would of easily missed and corrected them. I am 90 percent sure that this map will work on GR: IT all I have to do is wait for my bro to stop watching tv so I can test it. If I get all of it working or only a bit then I will post my result and tell you guys how to import maps to GR: IT on the xbox. Just give me about 20 minutes and my bro will be gone...

so whats the news?

i dunno how much help this will be at this point, but who knows, here goes:

What i had did a few days ago, I downloaded the "Red Dawn" campaign. I uploaded all of the .mis files from red dawn and put it into the missions/maps folder in GR:IT. I edited the campaign.xml file in the maps folder to accomadte the first RD mission to see if it would load. i also uploaded  the art shell files into their respective directories. when i would go to campaign, it would load up the Watchful Yeoman mission, instead of the first RD mission, even though I changed the campaign.xml file to point to the first RD mission (i guess i have to change the cached file like Mike said). BUT, when i go to quick mission, all of the missions from RD show up, and about 3/4 of them have accompanying artwork. problem is, when i go to play the mission, i get an error saying to restart my xbox. what I assume the problem is, there were no mission briefings for any of the RD missions, and when you load up a mission, it goes to the mission briefings first, then to the mission. another thing I also tried and failed misserably at, I have the 4 new missions that came with the rainbow six 3 sampler disc installed. they are in the E partition i believe. each mission has its own folder, and so I created another folder and named it accordingly. i uploaded a mission to it, and changed some files so that it points to that mission. when i went to play the game, i got an error at the title screen saying "xxxxx06 is" shit, i forgot what it said, but it was an error basically saying that file was unusable and i can re-install that file (first extra mission) or i can delete that file. i just cut the xbox off, deleted that folder, and all is well again.

good shit and much appreciated

2 things though

1) Do i need a hex-editor to edit the .env files?

2) What happens during mission briefing for the downloaded missions? do they even show up?
