Possibly Hacking Ghost Recon Maps?
« Reply #30 on: October 04, 2005, 07:40:00 AM »

sad.gif Well after I renew my Wing Chun membership tomorrow I will go out and buy the game on thursday or friday. I am going to join recon2mods.com so we can hopefully share all of our information. Yeah Ghost Recon scripts were really easy to understand so I will probably rip Summit Strike to shreds like you said because you said that it has more potential. Anyway I will talk to you more on recon2mods.com tonight and tomorrow about this. I am joining as soon as I post this message  smile.gif See you soon on recon2mods!

BUMP...

any interest by anyone?

I tried some simple copying last night, and the maps would show, but there are some text fields overlaid on the map that are out of place on the thumbnail, when you are choosing a level. All my tests were multiplayer....

anyway, it would load the map, complete with what type of kit restrictions are needed, but then would lock when loading the map at the "thumbnails in corners screen" with the reticle in the center of the screen.

I could use some input if anyone has any.

Well, I am guessing the file size of the new map would have to be the same size as the map you are replacing.  Other than that you would probably have to hex edit the default.xbe to tell it what to look for.  But, I have no idea how to do this.

i am going to bump this again...

the file sizes were the same, and alot of the files in both games had the same names...

Did you try adding a new map or replacing an xbox map with a pc map?  If you just copied the map to the HDD and it showed up in the map selection screen, I believe there is hope for this to be modded.  I will try adding a map and see what I can do.

i tried copying maps from the original ghost recon into island thunder...they showed up but crashed during the loading sequence...something is obviously only  a little off.
