Possibly Hacking Ghost Recon Maps?
« Reply #15 on: May 21, 2004, 10:46:00 PM »

YEP IT WORKS AND HERES HOW TO ADD IT. I ADDED A RIFLEMAN WITH A AK47 AND HERES HOW TO DO IT.
OPEN RIFLEMAN-04.KIT AND SEARCH FOR
<ITEMFILENAME>M16.GUN</ITEMFILENAME>
AND REPLACE M16.GUN WITH AK47.GUN.
SAVE THE FILE AS RIFLEMAN-05.KIT AND SAVE IT IN THE DIRECTORY THAT THE OTHER RIFLEMAN KITS ARE IN. IM GOING TO SEE IF I CAN FIND ANYMORE GUN FILES AND IM GOING TO LOG EM DOWN AND MAKE SEPERATE KIT FILES FOR EACH ONE, THEN LOAD GR BACK UP AND SEE IF THEY WORK.
ILL STAY IN TOUCH!

I just now found this thread! It could have saved me a bunch of time if I had seen it sooner, lol. Anyway, I basically found out all the info contained in this thread by myself. But sadly, I have nothing new to add. I would like to know how you added actors to a map tho man.

BTW, you *can* add vehicles to maps, just not actors. You can also load the xbox .mis files into IGOR, but sometimes they get kinda fucked up.

Hey guys I am starting to think that the xbox GR used a new revised editor to make those mis files..... I have a few people already talking to me on msn about this from the scene.... When I get my xbox up and running again I am going to transfer all my GRIT Xbox gear over to my pc and am going to ATTEMPT to make an editor that should not fail on us.... Wish me luck!

Yes, obviously red storm used a modified IGOR version, but the .mis files remain mostly compatible.

So far I've found:
1. you can play on any .map file, which is a great first step.
2. Can't seem to add actors to a map, but you can add enemies to "defend" mode using assault platoons.
3. Some .wav files used in the grit_xbox maps cause IGOR to crash, so just delete all the sound files from the .mis file before loading it into IGOR. Then you can edit the map all day long. But sometimes the map gets messed up, so I usually just manually copy/paste my changes to the mis.

Oh, and the gr1 maps included for xbl play are fully playable in mission mode with a few edits.

Ghost Recon 2 is out soon so we'll have to see if the old levels work on that.

lol Yea it seems that way... This guy Kdog who made Xboxscrewhead hasn't been on for like 3 months now. Well it seems like a fucking waste to me... its just pissed me off that he hasn't been on so we could make it completley open for everyone to use... Ghost Recon 2 is coming out and I think that it will make everyone steer clear away from Ghost Recon completley and only stick with GR2... Its very disappointing because it would of been really cool to finally be able to share EVERYTHING that we have all worked on. If GR2 is similar to the first one (With layout of files and such) then I will start work on it STRAIGHT away to try and convert GR maps to it. I think that it MIGHT be possible but I am almost certain that it would be running on the new Red Storm engine that they have made (Similar to RS3 if not the same completley) Who knows.... I think we should all wait for GR2 to come out first and then start again. We should all fully dedicate ourselves to modding GR2 up completley so everyone can share the goodness lol. Ohh well... We will just have to wait and see what GR2 brings at our disposal. Well thats all from me at the moment but in the mean time keep all your resources from GR that you have mucked around with... they might all be handy for GR2.

well helios, gr2 summit strike actually has more potential for modding than gr2 did.  i figure you know most of the mods that can be done as far as editing .mis and other text files.  what they did right on summit strike is they didnt compile the scripts this time.  so if you know scripting, you could probably create new missions.

about the last thing uncracked really is maps and models.  but due to the lack of love that the game gets compared to halo, there just hasnt been enough big minds involved.  if there were, the game could probably be even more modable than halo.
