Nice work helios!

I am just now finding this thread, and very interested in what you continue to find. I have done plenty of research myself into GR, along with previously doing mods for GR on PC, especially RSB editing and .kit and .gun files.

We need to get in touch and possibly collaborate on this....let me know what help you need.

smile.gif  My DLing of some PC maps from the site above, seemed to show me no obvious way to accomplish this.

I also checked out Counterstrike and it appears it too, has some multi-file archives.  The maps and all the necessary files for each one are in SXWAD files.  Very different from the maps for the PC version.  At least the ones I've DLed.  The X-box SXWADs are around 50MB whereas the PC add-on maps are at most, 10MB.

Same thing with Jedi KNight III: Jedi Academy.  I wanted to add the JKII:Outcast multiplayer maps to the latest game, but it seems there's no easy way...  *sigh*

Heh, I've been doing a lot of research with no apparent progress.  LOL  biggrin.gif  But still, come on Helios, you can get this GR stuff done!  I don't want to depress you with all the crap I found out about these other games.  Hehehe

muhaha.gif

all we would need is a program that can break down the maps into an editor i'll make sources for what i'm working on now, but i'm fixing the header file right now

Well, I can probably speak for many.  smile.gif  ANyway, if someone could throw together a program that can modify the weapon data and export it as a file we can copy straight to the correct directory in Ghost Recon, that would be loads of fun.  Nice and fast way to edit weapons and such.  Would be nice to have caps on what values can be put in as well to prevent crashes if an invalid value is input.

As far as a map editor, that would be sweet.  Even just having a map converter that can convert a map from PC to Xbox would be nice.  Looks like you're on your way to tying up the loose ends Helios.

Regarding the website, I wouldn't mind taking it over, but I'll probably just update it on your behalf if we have stuff we can put up.

Well, keep up the great work guys!

tongue.gif I will be keeping my eye on this thread for sure. I would love to see a tut or something for weapon editing for sure. As for the map thing, I am assuming that everyone would have to have the same imported map in order for people to play it? I guess I am assuming that the imported map work on live! Hah!

Keep us updated. What was the website address again? Thanks!!

Hey guys back again... I am at my friends house andI will be getting my internet atthe start of March... YAY!!! With this program that you guys want it will not be able to have edited maps because I can't makea program that edits meshes and shit in a file (I AM NOT A VB MASTER lol).... this program will be made for Windows so that means you will need to FTP files over that you want edited.... That is that best I can do but I will still do it... This week I can get all my GR hacking resources backtogether and start hacking it again.... Hopefully This tutorial I am making will be finished soon!! I can't wait to show you guys how to hack maps properly.... well almost properly lol... Still having trouble with the character ID's.... Anyway I will talk about this later this week....

See ya!  biggrin.gif

Helios, nice to see you back!  smile.gif  Anyway, I finally picked up all three Ghost Recon games for PC (Gold EDition was available for $18 so what the heck...Hehehe).  I guess I can finally start working on getting all the maps running in Ghost Recon: Island Thunder for X-box.  Can you send your tutorials to me?  If they aren't big, perhaps through e-mail.

So, what was the final outcome of this thread?

Is it possible to take the maps from the xbox GR and use them in multiplayer in GRIT?

What about weapons? Is it possible and easy to alter the existing weapons, or add new ones to GRIT?

SORRY ABOUT THE 2ND POST BUT THIS IS A FOLLOWUP. I WAS EXAMING MY GR FILES AND I NOTICED SOME .RSB FILES "ROGUE SPEAR BITMAP" SO IF THEIR STANDARD RSB FILES THEN YOU CAN FIND A UTILITY ON RSMOD.COM "NOW RAVENSHILEDMODS.COM" CALLED RSB<->BMP CONVERTER FOR TEXTURES.

AND LOOKING IN THE KIT FOLDER. THEY DONT LOOK LIKE THE STANDARD WPN FILES BUT MORE LIKE XML FILES. SO ITS POSSIBLE TO ADD A AK TO A RIFLEMANS INVENTORY BY MODDING THE ORIGINAL TO THIS

ORIGINAL OF RIFLEMAN-04.KIT
<KitFile>
  <VersionNumber>1.000000</VersionNumber>
  <KitTexture>kit_rifleman-04.rsb</KitTexture>
  <Firearm SlotNumber = "0">
     <VersionNumber>1.000000</VersionNumber>
     <ItemFileName>m16.gun</ItemFileName>
     <MagazineCount>15</MagazineCount>
     <ExtraAmmo>5</ExtraAmmo>
  </Firearm>
</KitFile>

MODDED RIFLEMAN-04.KIT
<KitFile>
  <VersionNumber>1.000000</VersionNumber>
  <KitTexture>kit_rifleman-04.rsb</KitTexture>
  <Firearm SlotNumber = "0">
     <VersionNumber>1.000000</VersionNumber>
     <ItemFileName>AK47.gun</ItemFileName>
     <MagazineCount>15</MagazineCount>
     <ExtraAmmo>5</ExtraAmmo>
  </Firearm>
</KitFile>

IM NOT SURE IF THIS WILL WORK BEING IVE DONE SIMILAR CRAP TO ROGUE SPEAR AND FOUND IMPRESSIVE RESULTS BUT I WILL TRY IT AND SEE IF IT WORKS. ILL STAND BY TO POST IF IT DOES. HAPPY MODDING AND EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS
