I would be very interested. Even if it were only for simple things like putting the face of my friends on master chiefs visor so I could mow them down.

I really hope this gets released. I don't know what the cons would be other than Bungie possibly trying to make it harder to do in future version. But I'm sure they already know that people can do it, so the cat is out of the bag already.

The program exists, dumbass, it's just not available to the public... that's the author's decision.

Byte swapping crap? So much more is possible by swapping bytes than just textures. A texture injector would be very cool though.

full of shit? hahaha u make me laugh hard... it exists, it works, blah and blah.... ive been given the ok to release it pending MS/bungie saying its ok.... as for full of shit go to #halo2 on free node or whatever its called (sorry dont remember, ask around ull find out) im a regular in there and ive given out a ppf patch to make the warthog white, which is an injected texture i made....

an extractor shouldnt/wont surface ever... people ripping textures for their own personal uses and such was shot down by MS... its all copyrighted images.

You can make the WH white fairly easily with a snow texture. I'd put like "INJECTED TEXTURE" in writing onto the 'Hog. Plus, being given the 'OK' by BungieMS? What? It is PERFECTLY legal. As long as the program doesn't have Bungie code. No one has gotten in trouble for releasing programs like that, so why the superstition?

Iriez, while he may be a moderator, isn't a lawyer. I wouldn't go to him for legal advice, just as I wouldn't go to many of the people here for legal advice (unless I'm under some sort of misconception in believing that most of you aren't lawyers?). You'd be just as good off reading the legal papers yourself.
It has more to do with respecting the authors. They say not to release it, so it isn't. That's just how it's gonna go.
