CODE
Offsets point to metadata. The metadata holds all the information, and optionally points to "raw" data. Raw data would be texture bitmaps, sounds, models, etc.

tht does me some good but is there more info to it, i mean its kinda hard to understand, im looking and lookin into it but theres alot to comprehend for so little time b4 school starts. lol

neways ive been doing a lot of hex editing today, and im really sick of it, but since i think im gettin the hang of it, the only is that i have some quesions about raw data and wutever. like for instance in bg i want to change a pistol for a ghost, (for example) but when i go to do it there are so many possiblites that i dont know which one to pick...

metadata...

Metadata is the code.  The rest of the stuff in there is either indexing files, or it is raw data for bitmaps, models, and all that stuff.  Metadata is the good stuff.  It's where you have all the fun because you can change the code to make things do what you want.  The trick is to find out what the metadata means, so you can make it mean something else.  It's a little tricky, but you start to notice similarities and differences in the metadata of different files of the same tag type.  If you want to do stuff that is cooler than just swapping models and projectiles, you need to investigate within the metadata and learn a little more about it by experimenting.
