Hows it coming Exentric

Hey guys. Sorry so long since the last update. Good things are in the pipeline. I'm about to release beta 5. It has a lot of things you've been waiting for including LAN party support by saving to multiple boxes in one step. I'll try to release real soon. I really want to get images in there but... we'll see.

On an even more exciting note, I finally finished my element parser. Now I have a utility that parses the actual output files from the game to generate the CTG files. The result is that now Cartographer can edit over 120 different elements and over 2300 entries in the game. This is really cool. If someone can get their hands on the PAL ouput files, I can get a full PAL CTG file done in 5 minutes! I'll start checking around.

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about witht the output files, see this link here.

I checked the website that yeders sent, but they don't have usable files. I need the output files because that's what my importer parses. The program that generates the output files was written by a guy named PfhorSlayer, but I have never spoken with him nor do I know if his program will work with the PAL version of Halo. But, its worth a shot. Has anyone seen PAL versions of these files?

No, thats not it. But I think I will have what I need by this evening. However, I'm still looking for information on how to disable the HUD. So, if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Thanks

NEWS!

Cartographer v1.0 Beta 5
9/3/2003 11:20 PM

What's New?
-----------

  • Direct cache-editing and other small bugs fixed
  • Map selection screen now has fully-populated images
  • Built-in connection manager for supporting multiple XBOXs
  • 'LAN Party' mode supports editing from one box and saving to unlimited boxes
  • Finished output parser, CTG file is now imported directly from Halo outputs
  • Support for over 128 elements at over 2300 locations
  • PAL users can now edit just as many elements as NTSC users! (Requires PAL Keys package from the project website)

The increased number of supported elements for both NTSC and PAL is thanks in part to my element parser, help from the guys like Iron Forge on IRC, and especially to Pugs for getting me the PAL output files. I hope you all enjoy this release. You can e-mail me if you have problems. Also, please stop by the project website for the users guide. It provides step-by-step illustrated instructions in case you're experiencing any difficulties.

Hey kudos on the update. I just tried it out on my heavily modified blood gultch map and everything on the right was listed as Unknown.

-edit-

Map tested. It was corrupt, not by your program though.

When I tried to select an object to change, I got this error

Thats really weird poiygon. I can't think of how that happened in the code... I can tell by the debug you posted where it's occuring, but I don't know how have a null at that point... PM me and maybe we can look at it together.

In the future, (everyone) if this should happen, please e-mail me the dump script rather then posting it in the forum. It just takes up so much space. Thanks.

QUOTE
Dont let you select something that cant be done

This would require a cross-reference that would be very time consuming to create. I, personally, don't feel like doing that. Someone else could add it though.

QUOTE
Did you know that when you load and edited .map and item that is changed will be dark green

Yes, that is intended. You can check out the Users Guide for a description of the color codings.

QUOTE
Make changed items light blue, or like gray blue, Green dosent realy fit in

The selection is already blue. The halo colors are blue and I wanted changed items to stick out. Sorry if you don't like green...  tongue.gif

QUOTE
Add a pic of an xbox where is has lists of xboxes to edit files from

True, or just kill it all together. Either way, I'm still working on getting the images done for the editor. This will take time. I'm still waiting on contact from DuDeR MaN to help me figure out how to kill the HUD...

I've got the latest version and put the PAL keys in the folder, but for some reason it can't find any map I load onto the Xbox - I've even tried clearing the cache and doing it.
