It didn't work for me, I opened up cache003 with it, made my changes then saved then transfered it overwrited original cach003 BUT ITS THE EXACT SAME THING AS ORIGINAL! Nothing I see is new!

Dunno. Works fine for me and others... What changes did you make? Also, what version of Halo do you have? (PAL NTSC). It may be that the offsets I have are only for NTSC. It also may be that it isn't always cache003.map for Blood Gulch. That would really suck.

when oh when will u release new maps? also can u not have the banshee on Blood Gulch because i see no option? ooo errr.

I plan to update the maps tonight. You can update the MapKeys.ctg file yourself in the mean time if you are adventurous. You cannot put the Banshee in Blood Gulch because the offset for the Banshee in Blood Gulch is not yet known. (see Blood Gulch Offsets). If they find the offset, I'll add it RIGHT AWAY. Trust me, I want this too.

I don't know if this will work on PAL or not. It all depends on if the offsets are the same. If not, we can easily make PAL and NTSC versions of the MapKeys.ctg file.

Guys, if you are having problems, please try the following:

  • Delete ALL files from X Y and Z drives. ALL FILES.
  • Start Halo and do Multi-Player Split-Screen
  • Add two players to the game and start Blood Gulch
  • TURN THE POWER OFF
  • Start your XBOX back up and go to the Evox dashboard
  • FTP the cache003.map file from your Y drive to your PC
  • Make changes in Cartographer and save them to the cache003.map file you downloaded from your box
  • FTP the cache003.map file back to your XBOX Y drive
  • Reboot and start Blood Gulch again WITH THE EXACT SAME players and settings

We'll try and work through this guys. This is a BRAND new beta. Plus, the fact that I released it at 3:30 in the morning doesnt help. Who knows what I missed wink.gif

(since it thinks it already is default, you can't save because it thinks no changes have been made.)

Oooo.. You're right. For now, just keep an original copy of the map around on disk. I'll figure a work-around soon enough. I think its more important to get more maps supported then it is to fix this right now. Maybe I'll just fix it so that it ALWAYS saves even if it doesn't think there are changes for now.

Thanks

Thanks guys.

I've already received MapKeys.ctg updates from hackattack to include SideWinder, and Ashmanuk2k2 (onlyme?) has also sent me an update with some PAL offsets. I'm about to get some food, but after that I'm going to at least get Silent Cartographer imported also. Watch for an update tonight.

Thanks for the work guys!

That IS strange. But, I dunno how that happens...

The overwrite problem you refer to isn't really a problem... Here's whats going on:

When I load the file, I do not yet go through the entire file to see if anythings changed. I assume that the file is a virgin cache file. I'll deal with that later.

When you save, it only updates the fields that you have changed in the current editing session, which means that values changed in another session are left alone.

I could see how this would cause some strange effects...

I did everything, you said and it doesn't work for me!

This is really unfortunate. What information can you give us about your setup? Are you PAL or NTSC? What version of Halo (GOTY, etc)? Have you tried manually changing the offsets yourself using a hex editor? Do you find the documented values at the documented offsets when examining a virgin map file?

P.S. the edits are coming along nicely. I had to add a few classes, so you will have to download the setup again when it's ready. This is really slow going doing it manually. I'm looking at making an importer for the HTML files from BOLL...

QUOTE (cexe @ Aug 12 2003, 01:48 AM)
one question  before i start using the combo forum.  One time, my friend killed me,and in my supplies that I droped, there was  2 camo...   HOW the Hell did that happen?
It was cool.  I think i tried to change the overshield to camo two cache003 files before the one we were playing, it crashed, then when i tried to overwrite it (not knowing then that overwrite needs some work) it cause some random error.   Any how, i looked at his screen after he killed my by the tree, and said "are those to invisibles by my body, how the heck did they get there?"

I think it may just be that you had grenades swapped with camo. I think you are  actualy supposed to be able to swap things like spent shells and what not too, so that every time you fire off a shot gun round, it would spawn some grenades or something.
