Your trying to connect directly to the xbox right?
Make sure you are puting in the right ip, name, and password.

If you just edit the files from your computer it is sure to work.
I dont realy understand what your problem is. Can you explain
what your doing exactly?

the .map files should be in the Z folder.

I could be able to do the zooms on BG for pal for the following weapons

  • Assualt Rifle
  • Pistol
  • Shotgun
  • Plasma Rifle
  • Rocket Launcher

but i would have to do 6 items for each weapon 3 for zoom and 3 fo no zoom unless theres a way i can use 24 digits instead of 8

eg

<element class="Character" type="Crewman" offset="F886C18" value="40429380" />

<element class="Character" type="Crewman" offset="F886C18" value="000001000000004000000040" />

but will there be a problem with the offset?

I still would like to get all of the images into the program. Dmauro was very kind in helping me figure out how to kill the HUD and create a flying camera man. Unfortunately, I dont understand his instructions!!! I deal with offsets and values and have not done any metadata hacking so I couldn't follow it. If someone could follow his instructions and make a patch file for me, I could apply it and get some more images in too. Or, someone else could do it for me. If you would like to assist in this area and have some decent capture hardware, PM me.

if you could get a pal version of his tutorial i will see what i can do.

There have been little bits and pieces of metadata information posted on this forum, but no comprehensive guide has been written due to the fact that most people playing with it don't document the effects of changing a certain bit to something else, and the ones that do only document a small portion of what they really tested.

It's a very tidious task that would take a long time to test each weapon/object/projectile/etc. Unfortunately, not many people have a whole lot of interest/know-how to hex edit and reload a map over and over. An ideal thing to be devopled is an on the fly hexeditor (ie: a code search in an emulator), where you can see the changes as you apply them. I don't think it's possible to write something like this, maybe with debug xbox.

Anyway, I hope you're able to accomplish whatever you invision for this project. Don't let the hurdles discourage you. I don't know how much interest dmauro, boll, or the few experienced people have in teaching people "down to the bit" meanings in the metadata information. However, it never hurts to ask for assistance, unless you expect it from someone. Keep up the good work.

Edit: I made a bunch of ado about nothing, it seems. Got it fixed.

Very useful toy here! Keep working on it, please, and keep the good work up.

i looked into it and withing a few mins i was completly confused. we need to ask him to add some more documentation telling us what vales he replaced with what and exactly how many digits he wants us to copy and paste as from the looks of it the meta data is very large.

Oh, you tease!

LOL!

Seriously, though, I think this release will already be pretty good. However, in order to make it even better I would like to enlist the help from a few individuals. If you have made your own cool hacks before or at least completely understand the patching process and have modified someone elses, I would ask for you to PM me. I'll explain more at that time.

No offense to the modding noob here, but I am looking for people that have some experience with the hacks. I don't want to bother dmauro or BOLL, but if you understand their recent hacks, please get with me!

Thanks!
