Jedi Knight Ii: Jedi Outcast
« on: August 06, 2003, 11:19:00 AM »

Well, I was looking over some of the files on the disc, and most of them end in .wxd. I think that it is some sort of a diffrent type of .pk3 file, but I could be wrong. I'll be checking these later, because If you can, you could replace sounds, add mods, new models, and more. If anyone thinks they knw anything about this, please drop me a post here.

Ok. Here's the rundown folks. Inside of the directory you see a folder called main, and default.xbe. Inside of Main, there is Media, Sounds, Music, assets.gfc, and assets.gob. The file assets.gfc points the default.xbe to all the models, and such inside of the assets.gob file. Now, if you've ever played JKII on the pc, you know that its GameData/Main/assets.pk3. I tried renaming the .gob to .pk3, and it wouldn't open in the pk3 editors, and I had also tried defining the header, it won't help either. So, I did some research and found that the older pc game, Jedi Knight, used files called GOB, which were levels and such, so I used older unpackers, and no go. Any professional developers out there, that would help would be great.

Obstacles:
-------------
* GOB files are not working as .PK3
* GOB files contain all models, maps, sounds, etc...

What this Could Do:
-------------------------
* Allow more customization into the game
* Allow you to add new models, maps, sounds, weapons, and more...
* More things....

Please post here if you have any suggestions or can help. Thanks

Success! I was able to play some of the sounds in the directories. I played the saber sounds. Download this and copy over one of the .wxb files ex: saberhum5.wxb. In GFE, choose File -> Bitmap/Wave ripper and select the .wxb file you wish to convert to .wav. Then choose the audio icon and it will play. I still need help on that gob file.
