I don't believe there are any publicly available apps which properly support repacking those files.
If that's the case & if you are serious about it then you will need to:

*Brush up on your C++ skills by diving into some C++ programming.
*Possibly read a/some C++ book/s- I recommend this one: Mcgraw Hill - C++ Demystified.

*Get the zlib source code- http://www.zlib.net/.
*Compile it.
*Import the generated dll/lib into your ca2 decompession/compression app.
*Study the ca2 specs- http://wiki.xentax.c..._MotorSport_CA2.

If you get this far you will probably know the how to do the rest on your own.

Have fun.

There are no ready made apps that compress the .ca2 files correctly. They use a different version of zlib. Your gonna have to get blue balled liked everyone else and make your own.

Well I took the time to send you a couple of PM's with alot of helpful info in them.
You not replying was a sign to me that you didn't appreciate the effort.
You'll find that most people here/in life will not help you to the extent which I have.
In a world comprised of egos you should show some love to the people who are not yet corrupted by the system.

//start:

VC++ should not give you any errors in the first place.
If you get warnings that's another matter.
Warnings are not always indicitive of any kind of problems, so don't worry about them.
Don't think that Dev-Cpp will be any easier for you.
For this job it may just complicate matters.
Easiest thing to do is this:

Use VC++ to complie zlib into a lib file.
Then start a new command line project
* Import the lib
* Import zconf.h & zlib.h

If you get that far reply here & i'll take you through the rest.

Ooh & sorry for saying you're not worth the effort.

Answers to many of your programming questions will probably have been answered here: http://groups.google.com/
You can put your error message in there & see what you find for example.

Anyone can decompress and compress the files back together. The problem your definitely not gonna get past is when you mod the files and they don't work.

You need more than just basic programming and computer code to get these files back together, AND WORKING. Might as well not waste your time, but the decision is up to you,.

And yes, might as well quit asking for help cause this is the best your ghonna get.
