Whew, reading 19 pages takes awhile...
So...after playing forza for awhile, i enjoy it, it just doesn't have the full scale modification level i was looking for. Although it way above NFSU's performance packages, I think you should be able to buy parts seperately(such as a intake, and headers, high flow cats, pulleys). Similar to what NFS Motor City was like.
I guess I was wondering with all of your knowledge about how this game works, would it be possible in the future for a person to make a full scale mod for this game that would allow us to modify these area's of the game? Bringing a even more realistic feel to the game.
Also, I notice alot of the cars don't have alot for the aestetics of the vehicle. Yeah you get some bodykit options for some cars, and some spoilers, and a few hoods...
I guess what im saying is would it be possible to extract the models and model your own hoodscoop or bodykit onto your car? I know this isn't NFSU, but really, you can have alot of fun modifing the look of your car in that game, and its not so far fetched. There is alot of general aftermarket stuff like roof scoops and hoodscoops, and spoilers that we could add in to this area. Obviously this is the stuff that couldn't be used on live, which is good.
And as others have asked, what about engine swaps? Yeah, you can buy a focus with its base engine and put in the duratec, but what about the V8, RWD kit you can buy for your focus? What about the triton V10 in a mustang? I mean, with enough money you can put any engine in just about any car.
Also, what about custom cars? Who else wants to see the Mazda 6 in game? I know I do, I love these cars. I mean if you can include econobox's like the civic and focus, where are the sporty sedans? Wheres the Taurus SHO?
I'm not demanding this stuff, im just wondering about the future of modding. With what you know now, is this stuff possible? I knwo someone has thought of this stuff, just don't know if it has been discussed. If im missing something important and need to search, just let me know, point me in the right direction.
Technically, the game DVD is structured closer to a PC DVD-Rom game, than a game console game. Much/most of the configuration is in separate *.INI files, etc. (albeit compressed into archives). Not a complete surprise as this is from M$ Game Studios (PC game origins!). This structure lends itself to extensive modification.
