Did you say you're working on the Master System synopsis Gilles?

I don't believe anyone else has started that one.   I wasn't going to get to it until after Gameboy, but it was next on the list.


Let me know if you're working on it and I'll give you the hot potato.

These are complete synopsis'.  Every game included in the Xtras is represented here.  I even have alternate titles that Barbie_on_Weed and a few others contributed (mostly so you can see the European name displayed instead of the US name if you have the alternate roms).

That's whole lotta bytes of text. What do you think Rx, will the GBA synopsis cross the magical 5MB checkpoint?

Hey Frank.  No... I don't think we'll get to the 5GB on that one.  If we just go the route of gamefaqs/mobygames to get our info, many of the entries will be a lot smaller than they were for NES/SNES/Genesis.

I'm burning myself out on it, so I want to make it simpler, since there is 3,000+ roms for the three Gameboy systems (and that's not even going through hacks and translations).

I'm looking forward to a bit of help on this one after doing the SNES one from scratch on my own and spending countless hours cleaning and finishing up the NES/Genesis.

I'm sure I'll have to add a game here or there, but it's up-to-date completely for all three systems now.  They look great with the betas.

If it does cause memory issues I"ll have to modify my code to read it a line at a time rather than the whole thing.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

If it makes it easier, just fill out the headline info and when I go back I will get the body information.  Most headline info can be found at gamefaqs.com

Hey Crash....

Now is the time to speak up if you've done any GameBoy synopsis stuff.  I've started the project myself and I'm through the letter B on the regular GameBoy already.

Let me know.  I'd hate to be doing double work.

Okay... probably gonna be done for the night, but I've completed the US synopsis for Gameboy from 0-9 to the letter L.  Not too shabby.  About 260 roms knocked out in one day.

These won't be as in-depth as some of the other big systems.  There are just too many to do.  I'm using GameFaqs to get the headline info for the games, and then using Moby Games for the body info.  When MG doesn't have the game I just use the GameFaqs generic description.

There's about 3,000 or more unique games to do already, and I'm sure there will be more hacks/translated/prototypes to add when they're done, so I have to do it this way.


If, when I'm done, somebody would like to add information about their favorite games they could send me a doc with the info and the sources and I could get that added in there.

Burnin through them...

Got the US Gameboy synopsis done in less than 24 hours.

Found about 40 games i had mis categorized that I have to move.

Then I'll do the foreign/hack/trans/proto/unlicensed synopsis.


Then it's on to Gameboy Color.

As i've completed a lot of synopsis files i can say that:

RESSURECTIONX YOU ARE THE SYNOPSIS BIG BOSS!!

how many damn good work you have done on them is incredible, when i first relaunched the thread about synopsis for all our console games (i was frustated to see mame had infos for +5000 games, and... nothing for our consoles classics), i thought i have 5% of chances to view it happen one day,
now i can say YEAH we have synopsis for almost all our consoles and they are complete and accurate (mostly thx for the gamefaqs infos)
lucky user of the madmab editions betas, i have infos for all the roms for all my systems (even the fba roms have synopsis now thx to nes6502 fba legend).
Whan i show all this to my friends, it is F###ING great! they all want one modded xbox with all this!

Pretty damn close to complete now.   This is the last big one to do.

Then it's just a few small systems here and there.  


They all still need some editing.  I want to add the "Players" which I've left off a lot of them.  Also, I'd like to make better categories, but I'll have to wait on that till we have sort/filter.
