Possible? Multiple Copies Of Same Emulator On Xbox
« on: January 05, 2008, 01:48:00 PM »

Is it possible to have multiple copies of the same Xport emulator on the xbox?

For example, XboyAdvance does GBA/GBC/GB/SGB/SGB2.  I would like to have a copy XboyAdvance setup for each system.

/F/Emulators/GBA/<gbaroms>
/F/Emulators/GBC/<gbcroms>
/F/Emulators/GB/<gbroms>

This would allow a cleaner setup as each copy of XboyAdvance would be for just that system, a dashboard icon of the game system could be used (rather than the app), and it would minimize the folder switching.  With lots of folders, it can get confusing which game system's roms you're looking at.

/F/Emulators/XboyAdvance/roms/
<gbaroms>
<a>
<b>
 <...>

<gbcroms>
<a>
<b>
 <...>

<gbroms>
<a>
<b>
 <...>

However, multiple copies of the same emulator all look at the same settings, so you can't have completely separate paths to the roms folder.

It there any way around this?

Keep up all the excellent work Xport!

Funny you should mention this.  Here is what I do.  I have the GBA emulator split in two.  One for GBA and the other for GBC and GBMono..

If you set the directories to point to the "D:" drive then things will be ok for the most part except save info will still be stuffed in the SAVES directory.  I usually have ROMS pointing to D:/roms/

So you emu's would be in
/F/Emulators/GBA/
/F/Emulators/GBC/
/F/Emulators/GB/

Then place the roms under each seperate F/emulators/GBx/roms/ drive and everything should be good.

Thanks madmab.  Followed your directions and everything work perfectly.

On a side note, I didn't intend this topic to be just for GameBoy.  Other Xport emus that do multiple systems can benefit from this setup.  Neogenesis with Genesis/Megadrive/32X/SegaCD/MegaCD support and smsplusx with Game Gear/Sega Master System come to mind.
