Screen Resize Problems In Xport Emulators (keeps Reseting)
« on: July 17, 2007, 10:16:00 PM »

Sorry if this has been addressed before, but I searched the forums and read the Xport faq's + readme's and couldn't find any answers:

I just got a new hdtv, so I've been reconfiguring all my Xport emulator settings to 1080i. Naturally, the emu screens needed to be resided after that because they were now small, 5 inch screens in the upper left hand corner of my tv. I do that but I'll then I'll try playing a different game and the screen is still a tiny box in the upper left had corner of the screen and I'll have to do the resizing all over again. And sometimes when I go back to a game that I resized already, the screen will be small like it was  before. I'm making sure I hit the 'A' button too every time to accept and not 'B' to back out. This has happened in every Xport emulator I've tried so far (NES, PCE & Genesis).

Does anyone know why I have to keep resizing my screens? Is it because the emulators are remembering my screen preferences for all the games I played when I was using 480p mode? Will deleting my preferences files fix this? Or am I only re-sizing game screens of individual games (if that's possible)?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

Try to resize the screen in option screen selected from main menu (not from the game itself) that should overwrite all existing screen settings for all games

I just did that in MednafenX NES but it looks like the screens need to be re-adjusted for any game that I've previously played. If it's a game I haven't played before, the screen is formatted correctly and is full size. If it's something I've played before though, it's always a small window in the upper left hand corner of the TV and I have to re-adjust it.

Anyone know why it's like this? And would reinstalling the emulator or deleting the preferences fix it?

Yeah that's right, if you delete the main save for the emulator (E:/Saves) then they will go back to default settings, then change it from the main menu and every game will load at the screen size you desire.

Thanks a lot for the tip, kimota. I'll give that a try and hopefully that fixes it.

BTW, are all Xport emulators like this with screen resize issue? Just wondering so I'll know which saves to delete.

I did just want to say one thing to you though, and this is quite a handy feature that I didn't really notice myself until recently, but if you press the black button on the controller when viewing a game in the menu you can delete that individual save game/screen sizes etc. So if there is only a few games you wanted to change the screen sizes too, then this is a handy way of doing it without going all out and deleting the whole of your .ini settings for the emulator.

From what I've played of them, all the XPort emulators seem to be the same in this regard. So hopefully you'll have some joy.

Thanks again for the tip, kimota. But when you say to press the black button while viewing the game in the menu, do you mean the screen you see after you select the game from the rom list? Or do you mean the in-game menu (when you hit the L3 button)?

I mean in the main rom select menu. Where your list of roms are instead of pressing A to load it, press black to delete the save game.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
