So I dled stepmaniaX v12 from the "usual places" and extracted it onto my computer.  I then ftped the stepmaniax folder from my pc to my xbox e drive.  I tried booting stepmaniax on my xbox and it started fine.  There were no songs though.  I found a few songs on the internet and put them in my songs directory.  Now stepmaniaX wont boot with songs in that directory.  I've tried 5 different songs and the only time stepmaniaX starts is when there are no songs in the songs directory.  When I try to start it, it says "loading songs" at the bottom of the screen and then sends me back to my dashboard (XBMC).  What am I doing wrong? thanks.

I had the same problem earlier this week. Stepmaina worked fine for me until I added some new song packs to it. After I added them, I kept getting kicked back to the dashboard when I tried to start Stepmania up.

Took a look at my Songs folder and saw that I accidently placed a single song folder inside of it. Before, all the songs would be in sub-folders (like 'DDR Max 6th Mix' and 'DDR Extreme 8th Mix'). As soon as I deleted that single song folder though, I was able to start playing Stepmania again.

So yeah, just create another folder for your Stepmania songs...once they are in there, THEN you can place them in the main Stepmaina songs folder.

Thanks a lot for your response.  I actually ended up figuring this out myself when I installed stepmania on my pc with the exact same song folder.  It gave me an error and told me that I needed to place my songs inside another folder within the songs folder.
