Are V1.5 Even Real?
« Reply #15 on: April 02, 2004, 11:06:00 AM »

Maybe those of you who have a 1.5 could grab a cam and send a video to evox testing the points with a multimeter.

And ya, why dont all the new LEs have dead LPCs ?

heinrich: Now that's something I didn't expect from you ..

Anyway:

http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=102164

There's the thread we're we nailed the v1.4 and v1.5. Fusion is the one who had a v1.5, I had a v1.4. Check page 11. I think at page 16 I verify that I've then got hold of a v1.5 as well.

So, whoever wrote that piece of BS at evolutionx.info is an idiot.

I'm the one who proclaimed that there were two versions, and I've seen them (and soldered .. ) both. Now, I'd like to see anyone claim I'm a liar, or that I have shady reasons to do this and what not concerning different modchip manufacturers.

There were only ever a few v1.5 made - in the beginning of August 2003. Why? Who know - maybe someone at MS really thought it would make a difference - or they actually just made a board revisions mistake (not likely). Claiming there were NEVER any v1.5s is just plain stupid though.

well, xecuter was the only one (mod maker) involved in the discussion at the time.  Unlike the 1.3 before hand where xodus worked on it as well.

I'm just as suprised as anyone else that it would be coming from evox.. which is not currently in the modchip game, and really has no reason to post that info - true or not.

If you think X-ecuter was the only modchip maker involved you need to read up on who Fusion is.

Very true, I suppose that the would be the other of the 2 chips, (xecuter and akira), sorry for that first post, but it was really the only one that I knew off the top of my head.

QUOTE (modrobert)
I smell some kind of OzXodus/Xenium connection here. Spreading bullshit on the evox site to confuse users installing other mods, that way no one have to back it up at OzXodus.

huh?  The xenium includes solder points for those needed on a 1.5, and I'm pretty sure that they are in the manual as well. What would ozxodus have to gain by saying that v1.5 didnt exist?  Maybe to make xecuter look bad, sure, but if they really believed that the version didnt exist, I dont think they would have gone through the trouble of making it easy to install in a 1.5.

There is less of a 'connection' between ozxodus and evox than you may think.

EvoltuionX should include support for Winbond flashing instead of claiming other people in the scene lie for no reason ... that would at least be productive.

The Akira runs on 3.3V btw, it's the LFE 3.1 that uses 5V. Either they didn't mean Akira or they even got the facts on the chip wrong.

You're right about one thing though - there's a lot less connection between most people on this "scene" than the people outside of the scene think. It's mostly _very_ casual, and on a need-to-know-when-it's-needed basis.

I agree completely with that statement.

Let me chime in...

Last I heard.. when Xantium added the 1.5 to XS charts.. it was based on hand-me-down info from modchip makers.

Last time I asked him.. we (Xan + me) had not actually ever touched one.

I'll go rattle his cage for an update.

I can confirm that my xbox is a 1.5 and that 1.5s are real....

Evidence #1
Without the power/ground wires, the Xbox Dashboard boots.

Evidence #2
My multimeter does't measure power or ground on the lpc bus.

wink.gif    and i stubled onto this sticky here and wanted to give some input.

I never tested my mobo with a multimeter (cause i don't have the money even for a cheap one)......

but  i purchased a Xenium and installed it and used the lpc pins that came with the chip.   I attached the chip...booted...and M$ screen.  All worked fine.  I was pissed and confused. (i had a bitch soldering and expected a reward) dry.gif

Took a break waited looked here for answers heard of the 1.5 1.4 version check.

Someone said about running two wires and such.

So I ran a wire while the system was on to the chip from a power supply and saw the pretty LED.  biggrin.gif

End story the shit wouldn't work without the power wire.

I don't know if i ran to a 3.3v though (a copaciter called r7d5 or someshit)  and i have no ground.  I guess its cool as long as I have no power surges.

Just thought someone could pick this apart and see why it worked with one wire and didn't work with no wires  huh.gif

biggrin.gif    It's aliveeeeee. lol  (sorry)

Anyway the chip worked everything was good.  Still works i run it everyday no problems.....

Except    I have no ground which i guess is alright unless i have a power surge or maybe it'll cause my mobo to over heat (reaches 135.F highest so far)

So why doesn't mine work with no wires and works with the one wire?

I used the LPC pins that came with the Xenium (I removed the #4 pin also)

Feel free to pick this apart, critisize, ask questions, whatever.

Just adding my expierience to help the myth get busted. wink.gif

It should frag....

Not if he's using a Chameleon, Xenium, or SmartXX.  They all ground D0 to LPC 2.  If that point isn't grounded, it boots to the TSOP.
