Question About Using Movie Files In Skins
« on: September 19, 2006, 02:18:00 PM »

Hi.  I was wondering if it would be possable to use a movie file for the background of a emulator.  I was skinning for PCSxbox and my buddy said I should put a FF7 movie as the background for the main menu.  I thought it was a neat Idea so I got a AVI file and ftp'ed to my xbox.  I then edited the ini file and changed the main menu bkg to nameofmovie.avi

I tryed it but I didnt get anything when I was at the main menu.  The sprites were all their but no movie or background.  So my question is, is there a way to do this or some way to make it work.  Thanks for any insight anyone can offer me!

Sounds interesting, but as is I assume there is no support for that.  I'd also have to assume that having something like that would be too memory intensive; especially for psx.  I could be wrong though.

No it wouldnt be to intensive because it would only be seen when the person is in the main menu.  There fore the movie would not play when the emulation is running, thus it would be fine.  The only thing I think is stopping it is support for movie files but someone with a little more knowledge would have to chime in.

There is no support for movie files as backgrounds.  I have no plans to implement that.

I see.  Thanks for the reply.  I hope that sometime/day you get around to adding that.
