im having trouble getting the game to start, becuase it wont detect my dance pad. it seems to load fine but will go through its normal stepmania/smmax/howtoplay/highscore screens even tho im pressing start. i tried advice from another poster in the v11 thread, but my controller isnt being detected either. any help would be greatly appreicated.

thanks

I still want HDTV support! tongue.gif
What's causing the song wheel to be so slow? disk reads? Would taking away the fading effect on the banners help?

Wow, I'm getting sick of this edit rule, that you can't edit your post after a certain time, I had this typed up and then said I can not edit the message -.-

Original Edit from previous post: XPort, why when you add too many songs it just gets stuck at the end of the caching? I managed to find a good set of the maximum amount of content I could add, and then I tried adding one more, it locks up (I used the same exact smzip which worked before like an hour ago), and then I remove it, and it loads perfectly. Can there be some kind of 'too much content' message or some kind of memory display?

By the way, for those interested, I have added the following content, mostly japanese fan mixes:

00:00.123: VFS: found Packages/Announcers-3rd.smzip (I was the one who made this 3+ years ago tongue.gif)
00:00.210: VFS: found Packages/Announcers-5th.smzip
00:00.250: VFS: found Packages/Announcers-MAX.smzip
00:00.266: VFS: found Packages/Announcers-Solo.smzip (I also made this 3+ years ago tongue.gif)
00:00.282: VFS: found Packages/BGAnimations.smzip (Merged all of my BGAnimations sets together)
00:00.298: VFS: found Packages/Characters.smzip (Merged all of my Characters sets together)
00:00.456: VFS: found Packages/D3MIX Another Edition.smzip
00:00.472: VFS: found Packages/D3MIX mini.smzip
00:00.725: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme - Glistening To Infinity.smzip
00:00.737: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme - The Greatest Hits.smzip
00:00.754: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme I.smzip
00:00.763: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme II.smzip
00:00.795: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme III.smzip
00:00.810: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme IV.smzip
00:00.819: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme IX.smzip
00:00.833: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme V.smzip
00:00.865: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme VI.smzip
00:00.890: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme VII.smzip
00:00.906: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme VIII.smzip
00:00.921: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme X-1.smzip
00:00.945: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme X-2.smzip
00:00.972: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme X-3.smzip
00:00.987: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme X-4.smzip
00:01.003: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme X-5.smzip
00:01.019: VFS: found Packages/DWI Extreme X.smzip
00:01.037: VFS: found Packages/foonmix 2.smzip
00:01.060: VFS: found Packages/foonmix PLUS.smzip
00:01.077: VFS: found Packages/foonmix.smzip
00:01.123: VFS: found Packages/KCD-Mix.smzip
00:01.164: VFS: found Packages/ltf-mix.smzip
00:01.177: VFS: found Packages/Plaguemix Series.smzip
00:01.192: VFS: found Packages/popcandy 1&2.smzip
00:01.220: VFS: found Packages/RandomMovies.smzip (Merged all of my RandomMovies sets together, and yes I know this is useless, but whatever.)
00:01.246: VFS: found Packages/StrawberrySteps.smzip
00:01.264: VFS: found Packages/Themes-3rd.smzip
00:01.319: VFS: found Packages/Themes-EX.smzip
00:01.378: VFS: found Packages/Themes-MAX.smzip
00:01.483: VFS: found Packages/Themes-MAX2.smzip
00:01.562: VFS: found Packages/Themes-PC.smzip (FYI: Party Collection, I cut the name down to make sure all of the themes show up on the Appearance Options page.)
00:01.620: VFS: found Packages/Visualizations.smzip (Merged all of my Visualizations sets together, just like the RandomMovies, I know it's useless.)
00:01.623: VFS: found Packages/X5mix.smzip
00:01.652: VFS: found Packages/xboxpackage.smzip

So basically unless you fix some very important stuff, I have no reason to touch my setup, since none of these songs need updating.

(Party Collection skin + MAX Announcer + Characters + BGAnimations -- a pretty good alternative for a port without ffdmpeg support...)

Have you tested this controller in ANYTHING else?

XPort, what are these optimizations you speak of, besides making a smaller smzip? I'm about to try it out, and I doubt I'll see anything physically standing out...

(wont respond to pm, w/e)

tried controller, works on halo2, halo1, battlefront 2, emulators, everything, except stepx. maybe something to do with keymaps.ini?

Awesome job XPort =D.  However, the dancing characters show up down on the bottom right off the screen.

These 2 are the same issue. I saw this myself back on V10, and the arrow placement doesn't move either, resulting in it being horribly offset.

Now I can't ftp five or six files, too long names...

To be fair, tw3nz0r, this is an emulator of a simulator.

I would like to know how to resize the screen in this version. It used to be the thumbsticks, but that was quite awhile ago.

Ok, I just did my first install of Stepmainia v 12 and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Right now it isn't.
This is what the log file is giving me:
00:00.064: StepMania 3.9
00:00.064: Compiled 04/28/2006 13:18 (build 3)
00:00.064: Log starting 2006-06-18 17:29:11

00:00.064: Command line args (count=2): [[x-runserver=StepmaniaX]] [[x-netip=127.0.0.1         ]]
00:00.079: VFS: found packages/Dance_Dance_Revolution_1st_Mix.smzip
00:00.120: Reading 'Data/Defaults.ini' failed: No such file or directory
00:00.126: Reading 'Data/Static.ini' failed: No such file or directory
00:00.126:
00:00.126: //////////////////////////////////////////////////////
00:00.126: Exception: 'Characters/default' is missing.
00:00.126: //////////////////////////////////////////////////////
00:00.126:

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Well I just tried it with v11 and it seems to be working now. But if anyone knows what is wrong with my problem before I'd still like to know in case I run into it again.

And also, it's weird the dance pad works up until I get into the actual song and then the arrows refuse to do anything. Start and back work, but the arrows don't. It's the gamestop dance pad.

I just recently had the same issue. Within stepmania remap the directions, for some reason they are pre-defined as menu dedicated buttons.

On to my question: I can't figure out how to get stepmaniaX to read from the dvd drive.
I've been playing around with the stepmania.ini file and changing the
CODE
AdditionalFolders=
AdditionalSongFolders=

to an assortment of things. A, D, S, T, and <letter>:\songs
I assumed "d:\" would work seeing as that is how it is mapped by my xbox.
However, I've come to realize that every emulator I have maps it to a different drive letter. So, I suspect the same can be said for stepmaniax.

Question:
What letter does stepmaniax map the dvd drive to?
Has anyone else been able to run stepmania songs via dvd/cd? And if so, what did you use?
