There seems to be a problem with the CD32 ISO/MP3/CUE support.

Any games that contain even small FMV sequences (Zool, Microcosm, etc.) do not load at all, the emu just sits at the Amiga CD32 screen. It isn't freezing up though, since the CD part of the logo spins continuously.

These games all work fine if run from the original disc.

Just an update. It seems no amount of playing with the settings makes the least bit of difference to this problem.

Dammit! And I was hoping this release would let me put away my CD32 discs forever. >_<

Have you tried launching the ISO file? (i.e. select the ISO file and not the CUE file.)

QUOTE(tonioni @ Apr 12 2006, 07:47 PM) *

This is caused by broken disk image (was confirmed years ago, exact same thing happens on a real A500)

That's very strange I loaded the same images on WinUAE 1.2 and they work fine.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
The game also worked fine on my A500 (Skid Row crack).

Well I made a HDF with WHDLoad and Jaguar XJ220 works fine with that, except whenever I try and save my game I cannot select drive DF3 which WHDLoad 'fools' the game to think is the savedisk.
It seems like WinUAEX for some reason inserts a disk in drive DF0 even if no disk is attached, only the HDF is attached.
If I quit the game back to workbench an icon appears with the text DF0:????

Yes, it seems that games with FMV sequences do work if run from the ISO file just not the CUE sheet. However none of the MP3 audio tracks play on any of the games I had to run in this way. This seems odd because I tried running a perfectly working game (Pinball Illusions) from its ISO file and the MP3 tracks played just as well as with the CUE.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Why on earth would the MP3 tracks not work on games containing FMV?

For reference the games I've been testing are:

Zool - only the non-MP3 music like the pre-stage music and FMV audio plays.
Microcosm - only has one MP3 track for the title screen. This does not play.
Worms - again only the FMV music plays, none of the MP3s

Seems Ultimate Body Blows has a similar problem. The game doesn't start when run from the CUE and when run from the ISO it runs but no MP3 audio.

As far as I know this game contains no FMV so I guess that's not the problem.  huh.gif

Another issue with ISO/MP3/CUE support. In any game that has an intro sequence that uses MP3 audio (e.g. The Chaos Engine, Bubba n Stix) if you let the intro play right to the end the audio track just starts up again and you can't proceed any further. The only way forward is to skip the intro whilst it's playing.

Really hoping some of these problems are fixable. The games that do work properly play very nicely indeed.

PS: JAZ, is that by any chance Julian Rignall in your avatar?

Here's my CUE sheet for Zool. This is an example of a game that gets to the CD32 logo then just stays there:

CODE
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL01.iso" BINARY
TRACK 1 MODE1/2048
INDEX 1 00:00:00
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL02.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 2 AUDIO
INDEX 1 12:06:03
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL03.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 3 AUDIO
INDEX 1 15:56:21
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL04.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 4 AUDIO
INDEX 1 19:29:74
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL05.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 5 AUDIO
INDEX 1 23:23:73
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL06.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 6 AUDIO
INDEX 1 26:04:61
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL07.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 7 AUDIO
INDEX 1 30:15:34
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL08.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 8 AUDIO
INDEX 1 33:05:16
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL09.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 9 AUDIO
INDEX 1 37:30:66
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL10.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 10 AUDIO
INDEX 1 38:49:54
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL11.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 11 AUDIO
INDEX 1 42:48:44
FILE "ZZ_ZOOL12.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 12 AUDIO
INDEX 1 46:59:52

Some games don't even get to the boot logo, they just go straight to the screen with the spinning disc as if no disc is inserted at all. Ultimate Body Blows is one example:

CODE
FILE "ZZ_ULBB01.iso" BINARY
TRACK 1 MODE1/2048
INDEX 1 00:00:00
FILE "ZZ_ULBB02.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 2 AUDIO
INDEX 1 03:05:03
FILE "ZZ_ULBB03.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 3 AUDIO
INDEX 1 06:24:08
FILE "ZZ_ULBB04.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 4 AUDIO
INDEX 1 08:33:35
FILE "ZZ_ULBB05.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 5 AUDIO
INDEX 1 11:42:23
FILE "ZZ_ULBB06.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 6 AUDIO
INDEX 1 14:14:23
FILE "ZZ_ULBB07.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 7 AUDIO
INDEX 1 16:52:30
FILE "ZZ_ULBB08.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 8 AUDIO
INDEX 1 19:40:69
FILE "ZZ_ULBB09.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 9 AUDIO
INDEX 1 22:05:14
FILE "ZZ_ULBB10.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 10 AUDIO
INDEX 1 22:23:74

Both of these games run perfectly from the original discs and without MP3 audio if run from the ISO file.
I'm using cddissect to rip the discs. I've also tried changing the block size of the ISO track (2048/2352), this makes no difference.

I've also found some games that don't even try to load. They just lock up the emu when run from the CUE sheet. Running from the ISO they work fine minus MP3 audio as before. These games include:

Alien Breed - Tower Assault
ATR - All Terrain Racing
The Big 6

CUE sheets are in exactly the same format as those above.

Are they being run off the Xbox HD, off of a network, off of an ISO9660 disc, or off of an XBox-formatted disc?

They're all being run from an XDVDFS disc.

Sure is.

I haven't tried v12 yet but this is a very strange problem I have with an original copy of The Chaos Engine CD32 and v11.

I ripped the game using CDDISSECT.

Copied game to hard drive.

If I launch the CUE the game loads fine with all audio. However, at the title screen it simly loops the audio from the start and I cannot do anything.

If I launch the ISO, the game loads to the title screen with no audio. I can then start the game and audio is fine.

Weird.
