MednafenX-NES - NES Emulator for XBox v2

http://mednafen.com/
http://xport.xbox-scene.com

What's New:

 - Rewind support enabled
Two new button definitions: "Turn On/Off Rewind" and "Rewind"
Map them to whatever buttons you want in controller configuration

If you're playing in 720p or 1080i mode, the amount of time available
for rewinding is decreased due to memory constraints.  (720p and 1080i
require much more memory than 480i/p)

Furthermore, enabling rewind in FDS games will result in extremely poor
performance due to the fact that FDS games require a lot of horsepower
to run.  At least it's full speed in regular and VS UniSystem games.

 - Should no longer crash in 1080i mode (memory limitation issue)

 - Made main menu have 7 lines

Go to Configuration -> Video/Skin Configuration -> Select Skin
   and reselect the default skin.

Or, go to Configuration -> Video/Skin Configuration -> Configure Skin ->
Main Menu Settings -> Text Settings and set
Number of Lines Per Page = 7
   Line Height = 19

 - Error messages when loading games should provide meaningful feedback
as to why it has failed.

 - Possible fix to garbled screen upon starting

 - Filename Filter
Go to Configuration -> General Settings -> Page 2 -> Edit Filename Filter
The extensions you enter will be the only ones that appear in your
   game listings.

 - Game Genie implemented.  You don't have to reload the game if you are
adding or enabling game genie codes, but if you want to disable or
delete one, you'll have to reload the game.

 - Updated text file viewer :
Press LTHUMB to change the font height
Press RTHUMB to bring up the screen-resize menu
Move LTHUMB left/right, RTHUMB left/right to move the text left/right
   and extend the viewing area
Move LTHUMB up/down to scroll text up/down

 - Move DPAD left/right on save state slot to inc/dec slot number

 - Use USB mouse to control light gun

Nice....  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)

You'all now have the rewind function available!

Filename filter would really be handy in something like dosxbox (hint, hint).  I use dummy .cfg files to run my stuff since the filenames are usually cryptic.  It's also handy (of course) for emu's that use .cue sheets as well.

I forgot to mention in the other medna threads, but were the internal xbe names corrected?

Is there any way to assign the lightgun's shoot and shoot outside the screen to controller buttons?  As I have noticed I can control the crosshair with the analog stick...

I must be mighty stupid too, because I can't find rewind anywhere either, in Controller Configuration or anywhere else. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I also can't seem to locate it in MednafenX-pce and MednafenX-lynx. Am I missing something really dumb?

Also, do you plan on implementing saving for the current in-skin music volume, or a volume control for in-skin sound effects? I can always remaster them myself but it would be nice to have either or both of those features.

go to config
select "controller config"
select "control 1"
select "emulator definitions"
select "emu button 15" and set it to "Turn on/off Rewind"
select "emu button 28" and scroll down till you find "Rewind"
then go back to change "Joypad Mappings" select "Change Game Mappings"
goto "emu button 15" and set which button you want to use to "turn on/off rewind"(I set mine to left tumbstick button)
goto "emu button 28" and set button for "rewind."  (I use  y)

Done.

rewind instructions

Yep, I'm dumb. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I thought it would already be listed as a button mapped to "nothing + nothing" somewhere. My mistake - I blame it on being very late here and my brain being fried, heh.

Thanks for your help. It's a really cool feature to use, actually, and I thank Xport lots for adding support for it. I'd never tried emulator rewind before on the PC but after playing around with it a bit I can see some interesting uses for it..

Are saves broken now? I get a message every now and then saying, "Cannot Save game title .srm", wtf?

Saves work. Maybe try deleting your e:/saves/mednafenx folder.

EDIT: Btw. Thanks foxfella.

Hmm... Could've sworn I've already done this, deleted the entire folder. I'll try again and let you know.
