Just about all homebrew apps and emulators run in 480i AND 480p. But Xport emulator apps do not support 480p. The screen is just a random mess of scrolling horizontal lines.

There are some of us that can only run at 480p and higher. Will you ever plan on adding 480p support to your ports?

They do run in 480p just fine. You have one of two problems... first, there is a known issue with Xport emulators and v1.6 Xboxs. There have been several threads about it both here in this forum and the emulator forum. You can read one recent thread about this issue and a work around here: Link

The second possibility is that the emulator is simply launching in 480i and your display doesn't support that... you did mention that some people can only run in 480p or higher, right? The option to change that is in the emulator menu, but you can also likely change it manually by accessing the ini file that the emulators create on the E: drive.

I need to know what emulator you're trying to use, the version number of the emulator, and the version number of your xbox ( which is probably 1.6)

My Xbox Version: 1.6

When attempting to launch with 480p enabled in the dash (have tried XBMC & UNLEASHX), the sound comes out ok, but the screen is garbled (See the link in Thraxen's post for a picture)

I can however launch the emu from evox with 480p enabled (and I am sure the orginal poster will be able to as well).

I can launch any of the emu's with evox, the emu has 480p enabled. If I then exit the emu, and attempt to launch the emu again using Unleashx or XBMC after diabling 480p in the dash, the emu still boots with 480p enabled. You have to boot once with 480p enabled in evox in order for this to work - otherwise if you manually try to change the emu to 480p with it disabled in your dash, the emu wont let you.

(I don't know if that's wierd or not, but it's an easy workaround - same as launching from EVOX).

I do not have this issue with any of my othe emu's which lead me to beleive it's a bug in the EMU, but if it boots fine using a different dash it looks like a dash problem? Bottom line is that the emu runs fine in 480p, depending on which dash you launch with. Being a V1.6 xbox always adds fun to the mix as well (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It would be nice to see this addressed, but it takes only a few seconds to launch evox as an app, and launching the emu from there.

Best not to think of it as a bug or flaw in either the emulators or dashboards, but rather a strange interraction between them when coupled with the v1.6 Box. Having to boot into EvoX over and over can get a bit tedious though, and sometimes I worry it takes a toll on the system.

Xport. Let me know the build date or version number with the potential fix.

I am on xbox 1.6b launcing from XBMC.

My monitor only supports 480p and higher. I will try the recommended fixes when I get home today, and I will also supply the ports that are having this problem, although Scoobysnaxx seems to have got them.

Still having the same problems (emu screen launches garbled with 480p enabled in the dash). Deleted the saves form the Dash, and the Save folder on the E drive for each emu as well. Can anyone with a 1.6 and 480p capable television confirm?

I imagine its a serious pain in the ass without a v1.6 available to test on. Thanks for the attempt (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Just saw this thread linked from the mednafenx_nes_v2 thread but I'd already posted in there so I'll post here also because it's more appropriate as this issue affects all Xport emu's on the Xbox Xcaliber video encoder.

I can confirm latest xport emu's on an Xbox v1.6b with Xcaliber video encoder are garbled in 480p. At least now we have 720p and 1080i working perfect even when launched from any dash. Thanks for updates Xport. Conexant and Focus video encoders don't have this problem. I have tested same Xport emu's on my v1.1 and v1.4. MameX and Xsnes do launch correctly in 480p on an Xcaliber video encoder.

I had the same problem, only I could load only 480p/480i, no widescreen mode, no 720p or 1080i, even though my TV is capable, and use other programs which do utilize these.

I can confirm your newest NES emulator (v4) works perfectly, however, thanks so much. It is so good not having to switch resolutions everytime i want to play an emulator or use xbmc.

Is there any way to add this into your other emulators, neogenesis and otherwise? Thanks so much for all your hard work.

From what I understand, all future releases will have this fix.

Neogenesis V21 was released shortly after Mednafenx-nes V4, and it included the fix as well.

If you want to have some real nintendo fun .

Launch xports nes emu and enable super2xsai and change your res to 1080i . It will be the hisghest quality nintendo you have ever experienced and it uns full speed. You will have to adjust the display after setting it to 1080i .

I actually replayed Mario 3 after finding this out . The whole time not being able to look away at the sexiness of Hi-res Nintendo .
