I am running AtariXLbox v5 from my xbox's HDD.  However, I cannot get any Atari 5200 roms to load from the DVD-ROM.  If I copy that same zipped rom to the HDD I can load the file with the same startup parameters (ie: atari 5200, 16K cart, etc).  

All the other x-port emulators that I have installed will load zipped roms from the DVD-ROM without any problems.

Any suggestions?  Could atarixlbox be trying to decompress the file in the source directory?  I cannot figure this one out!  I know how to get around it, but I prefer to keep the roms on DVD.  No sense cluttering up the HDD with thousands of tinny files.

I will give AtariXLbox v4 a try once I fine a copy of it.  

PS: Thank you X-Port for a job well done.  I grew up with the Atari 2600, NES, SNES, TG16, etc.  I enjoy revisiting games of yesteryear in the comfort of my living room.  The simplicity of those games compared to today makes them more appealing.  Fancy graphics and Dolby Digital surround sound a great game does not make.

Having the same problem with running roms off a dvd for neogenesis. Do they need to be zipped? Im running them as .smd files, so far its a no go.

Ain't that the truth.  The older games focused on gameplay rather than stuff like "volumentric fog".    (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

atariXLBox has some funky path related stuff to be sure-My initial setup would not save the configuration files for any rom I'd set up until I went in an manually forced the default saves path to where I'd placed the emulator, using the GUI to set the path.  

Setting it in the .ini file didn't do it.   Perhaps all you need to do is go through the GUI and set all the paths by hand.

 
If and when you ever get a solution, I'd really appreciate it if you'd pop over to my atarixlbox wiki documentation and help me write something up that describes the situation.
