A problem that I seem to have is that, whereas the current version of MAMEoX is based upon an older MAME release, only about a half of the rom files that are available will work.  By that I mean, what I do is go to the proper sources for the "right" romsets for the newest release of MAME, and download those, and while they're exactly what the latest PC version of MAME is looking for, they are incompatible with the version of MAME that was used to make MAMEoX, and when I try to run them in MAMEoX I get an error message about them being invalid sets, that certain required files cannot be found, and the emulator will quit back to the romlist.
I don't know what might offer a solution apart from updating the version of MAME at the core of MAMEoX.  Since I can see no way to acquire the old romsets, which are required by MAMEoX, I can't figure how to get a majority of the games that I want to play to work with MAMEoX.

Get something called clrmamepro. After that, get the .084dat file. The .084 dat file is at the xbox emulator repository (I can mention that place I hope?). From there, whenever you get a set of roms, run them through clrmamepro. I can't tell you where to get the roms, but not every source uses the same version of roms. Running multiple available sets through clrmamepro will net you about 80% - 85% of the roms as playable.

Thanks for the tip, Moonkeeper.  I'll give it a shot, though I'm having trouble finding romsets for much older versions of MAME.

I really do hope that Xport might see it worthwhile to update his MAME to a newer release, if the process isn't too demanding of his time.  There have been quite a few games given support in newer versions that hadn't support in the older version (it's .84 or .85 I think?  Now MAME is up to 1.22 I think).  And not just newer arcade games, but also old arcade games that had encryption or security that wasn't emulated yet, like Sega's classic "Gain Ground."

Anyway, thanks again Moonkeeper, I'll do what I can with clrmame and the latest romsets.
