Hi Manabyte, I've been trying to access the site for a few weeks now but with no luck.

I too would be very interested in finding alternative sites/sources for screenshots and boxart suitable for the Xport emulators....

If you want screenshot packs/ box art then you should ask our members who posted them on the emulation repository.  Namely Chron Johnson and Guybird.

Enjoy!

That no-intro screenshot archive is pretty awesome.  I had to rename almost everything to fit my names, but it was nice not having to download images one at a time anyways.

In the future, if we get video and screenshot previews in tandem on the XPORT and Zsnesbox I will release videos and boxart/title/action/cart artwork packs for most of the emus along with the datfiles to rename your roms to my naming conventions.   It's all right here.... I'm just waiting for the coders to make it possible and for somebody with some artistic abilities to alter existing skins or create new ones that will feature both previews simultaneously and I'll release the packs for everyone.   They're not all done yet, but I have complete sets of Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Lynx, NES, & Virtual Boy.  I'm currently working on art packs for SNES, Colecovision, Turbo Grafix 16 &  Intellivision, and I plan on getting around to Sega MS/GG and Gameboy/Gameboy Advance last.  They'll be the toughest since they play multiple platforms and a lot of the games have the same name, so I'm saving them for last.  Oh.. and the Gameboy collection is freaking huge so it will take forever.  And someday I'd like to get previews/artwork for all of the working PSX games too, but that compatibility list needs some more work before that will come to pass.

I might work on other systems after all of them are done, but those are my main focus now.

I also have over 10,000 videos for games that came in the mail on 10 DVDs the other day.  I'd be willing to work with those who would fill in the blanks and release complete video sets for all emus too.  I'm not trying to be a bitch by holding all of this hostage.... I'm just trying to give the incentive for us all to work together as a team and get this project done.  Those of you who have taken the time to really work on something for the community know how much freaking work it is and appreciate how much effort others have put into this.

Spread the word.... find somebody who will create skins if the coders make it possible to display both previews at once, and I'll start working with ya'all to bring the most complete preview collection any emu scene has ever seen.

I don't like good tools naming conventions myself, so they wouldn't work for you because my naming conventions are different.  When I release stuff I will release my dat files, so you have the option of either renaming everything by hand the way you want or you could run your roms through it to match my names.

Unfortunately, I won't be releasing stuff until some things get done though, because then there's no incentive for anyone to do the extra work if I did.  I will release videos when the video previews are added to XPORT emus and people work with me to make the missing videos, like I did with Horscht and Sotu on the SNES videos.  I will release the artwork packs when/if the ability to preview both vids and artwork simultaneously is added to the emulators.   I won't need any other help on the artwork packs when this is done, because I have complete artwork sets.

I'm looking forward to sharing them with everyone.

I might repack the NES box and cart set and let the Screenshot Archive host it.  That set's what I care about.  Made that shit by hand.  Removed the watermarks.  Copy, paste bitch.  Go check RFgeneration right now, they changed all their watermarks to take up like half the box cover now and spatter pixels everywhere, it's hilarious.  Like I'm going to steal them again.  The thing about the others is they're probably just as big a pain in the ass to get working as it is to take their source from The Screenshot Archive and convert it with Lupa's Rename 2000 and mass ZIP tricks.  barenamex doesn't even work on my Vista computer now anyway, the SNES pack was the most popular yet it was the most retarded.  Actually that one's hard to make yourself I guess.  The source material was jacked up too.  Hell it was jacked off.  GBA packs can be made with madmab's heady BAT.  It's all about using the right GoodTools, the old ones that conform to the Screenshot Archive's holdings, in the right order.  Tedious but it's just as tedious to make your ROM names match.  Maybe a little less.  Maybe our host decided it was too much bandwidth to save people the effort.  PreXBoxCopyTool > barenamex

When's GoodSNES 3.14 coming out.  Or 3.00 for that matter, or 3.10.  And would anyone care about Famicom boxes.  I'm surprised cospefogo isn't more hard for this stuff but he didn't grow up with these NES box covers behind locked glass at the Sears.

Hey Chron,

Matter of fact I care about this matter - specially the Famicom Boxes - but I really needed to choose
a path for me... Or I became almost-emulator-developer or I became a video-game player.
I used to spend a huge frame of time working on screenshots, skining the emulator guis and so on,
and a absolutely small time playing. This started to worry me.

This also happened when I was a ferocious collector of video-game gadgets. I did notice I was spending all my free time and most of my spare money in buying gaming goods, receiving
mail packages, cleaning the stuff, creating catalogs, organizing, taking pictures, yadda yadda yadda...
and the good old thing of "just playing a video-game" - the purpose of the whole scene - was completely
left behind.

This is why I did not engaged the covers scene.
I would love to have both screenshots and game covers at my setups, but since its
almost impossible to all the game covers for all video-game system out there, I choose
to go only for the traditional game shots.

I like to keep the things on standards, so I went for only screenshots.
This is easy to get for all games out there, even if I need to print one-by-one using
the emulators features.

Anyway, I just write to tell you that I keep on eye on this time to time,
and thanks for remembering me!

Same motivation here.  I can't stand to browse the same list of GoodXXX text over and over on my way to playing games.  Attrition sets in and I play less.  Need fat bling to pull you in to each game.  Note that my NES set had every single piece of artwork for the entire USA folder.  Even test carts and special carts and the one that hooks up to the exercise bike.  All complete, no holes for your folder.  That's why destiny is manifest for GoodNES but not for other sets.  Just isn't enough art out there, no one cares enough.  If I could speak Japanese I could find more Famicom art.  I only easily forsee 1/3 easily available in high definition.  Read easily available as mind numbingly difficult to clean but out there.  Quest for pixel perfect emulation is the other half of making emulation enjoyable since you need to not be fuzzy once you click that box.

Anyone know where I can stick these?  I found my backups for the heady NES set but this is over 300 megs of high quality boxes and carts, complete.  I can't email them to people individually as per PM requests.  Screenshot archive's packs seem to max out at 16 megs.

I was going to put some box art in my NES, Sega, and SNES emulators but I can't see where to put it. I checked in the Surreal64 emulator because it already has box art loaded in the emulator and it has a folder in there called Media and a folder in that called Box Art, but none of the emulators (NES, Sega, and SNES) have a media folder in them. Do I need to make a Media Folder, and then a Box Art folder inside that? If so, then do I need to change/add something to the .ini file to tell the Emulator where to look? I'm a little confused on how exactly to get this working. unsure.gif

I am just wanting the box art to show up where the screenshots are, nothing really too fancy, just something to see the cover of the game the way I remember them when I bought them years ago. biggrin.gif

Thanks for any help that you can give me!! biggrin.gif

you have a huge job ahead of you man.

In all of XPORTs emus, the screenshots are in E:\Screenshots and the emu you're using.  There is a different folder for every game and the folder name needs to match the rom name or it won't show up.

SNES previews are quite a bit different, those are in the "artwork" folder inside the emu.

Wait about a week and I will have released the Zsnesxbox artwork/vids pack and you can just run your roms through my datfile and the names will all match up.

some 1-click filehoster like megauload, sendspace etc. would probably be best.

hey there guys!

I'm the webmaster of the No-intro Screenshot Archive.

If some of you are willing to continue the XBOX screenshots project, we will be happy to give you a hand and host the files either for direct download on our server, or on our premium Rapidshare account (so no deletion), as we were happy to let the Xbox emulation repository guys to use our screenshots.

I already sent an email to another member of the Xbox Emulation Repository when i found it was gone (i recently purchased a second hand Xbox -never had one before!- , so i rushed there to check the stuff) but got no reply. I think i also talked to Chron Johnson in the past but didn't have his email, so can't contact him about this matter. I just found this thread checking our site stats and referals.

So again, if you are interested, please contact me. You can PM me or just use the contact form in our web site. I can include FATX renaming options in our renaming application, but some of you will have to teach me a few things about FATX renaming, since i'm still a newbee with the Xbox.

Cheers!
