XBMC runs python scripts, so it isn't completely unfeasible.

Granted, yes.  However, one would rip the Python interpreter out of XBMC, implement it as its own piece of software, and.. well.

If, theoretically, one could implement the OpenGL and other calls as necessary to run Frets on Fire on top of XBMC?  Well.  You would need an Xbox modded up to more than 128MB, 'cause damn the memory needs.  Granted, one could rip out the VMM code from MAMEoX or the like, but.. now we're just insane.

So, as you said.  Not completely unfeasible, but.

I don't know if this is the kind of request you're looking for, but has there ever been consideration put into a consolidated emulation engine? Something along the lines of Morphgear which is available for several platforms, including PC. The idea is that you have one emulator, with engines for all popular systems, all accessible through one GUI. I'm not a coder, so I don't know what happens behind the scenes, but basically in operation, you load one program, pick a rom, and it will dynamically load the emulator engine from there. I think this would be awesome if implemented on Xbox, as it would save going back and forth from the dashboard to change systems.

Any chance of having a MAME xport with 480p and 1080i video support?

Speaking of MAME...
Individual game config settings would be nice (e.g. screen calibration per game).

It seems that there is a version of ultrastar called Ultrastar Next Generation ported to c++ and ready to be compiled under linux

http://sourceforge.n...s/ultrastar-ng/

it seems that the source can only be obtained using cvs

cvs -d:pserver:[email protected]:/cvsroot/ultrastar-ng login

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:[email protected]:/cvsroot/ultrastar-ng co -P UltraStar-ng

It´s not as complete as the windows version, but at least this could make the program more portable smile.gif

http://clonekeen.sou....net/#platforms

CloneKeep is an SDL remake of Commander Keen.  It is complete, and already ported to several platforms like the PSP and GP2X.

It appears to only run the first title, the Shareware one.  However the engine for chapters 1-3 is the same, so I wonder if this remake can read and run the levels from chapters 2 and 3?

First I just want to thank X-Port for all the hard work put into the projects and for keeping Xbox emulation alive, I still check all the time for new releases and I thought it was time I said thank you!

Back on topic, have you seen the Sega Saturn emulator Yabause?

http://yabause.sourc....php/?page_id=4

It's over 3 years old, very capable and open source. Hell, there's even a Dreamcast port!!

It'd be awsome to play classic Saturn games on the 'box!

Maybe you should use the Search function, or read the very first post in this thread.

Oops, sorry missed that bit, here's where the source is:

http://yabause.sourc....php/?page_id=4

I've had a go and it seems a very capable emulator. Not sure about portability but it's written in C.

I did search and found nothing relating to Yabause..

(Just adding an Arcadia 2001 emulator here as an alternative to the MESS version)

http://members.optusnet.com.au/jrjacobs76/#amiarcadia

WinArcadia comes with full source code...it uses PC-speaker sound though, so I'm not sure how much of a chore that would be to convert to actual sound hardware. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Keypad/control mapping seems like it'd be an Intellivision-like nightmare :/

UltraSTar...................Singstar port

I know the windows version was in delphi which was a problem but the linux clone is code in c++.
It should be portable now.

The Source Code

this is a request for anyone to port >
frontier:elite 2 as it about 15 years old so

i dont know if the source code is available
or where you could find it.

but if someone could find the source for it
i think it would be a nice port.

i have been looking for a working copy of the game
(pc version) but was unable to find one.
