Vice64x Current Discussion
« on: August 28, 2004, 11:14:00 AM »

This is the main discussion thread for the most recent version of Vice64X.

Use this thread to do any of the following:

Ask a question about Vice64X
Report a bug about Vice64X
Submit a feature request for Vice64X

Do not use this thread to post about projects other than Vice64X.
Do not post questions/bug reports/feature requests without first reading the FAQs for Vice64X.
Do not ask where these projects can be downloaded.

Rule violators will get one warning. After that, you will be temporarily or permanently banned depending on the situation.  I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but it has taken me a cumulatively long time to write the FAQs for these projects.  If you cannot do me the courtesy of taking the time to read them, then I do not want you posting here.

This thread will be pruned/cleaned periodically.  If you had a question in this thread and it is now gone, then it was either in violation of the rules or your answer can now be found in the FAQs section.

A small feature request here, I'm sure this is going to happen sooner or later anyway, but I'd really like to see this updated with the latest UI options and goodies, and a 50hz toggle option from the menu just like in Winuae-X. It would make it so much more convienient to play rather than having to go to the MS Dash to switch back and forth between video modes.

Cheers, this is an awesome emu espesially when u have the whole gamebase thing up and running.

Vice version 1.15 has just been released, do you have any plans of updating your excellent ViceX port with the latest source.  smile.gif

I don't know what has changed in the core since I originally ported it.  Is there a compelling reason why I should bother?  I've never had a problem running any game in Vice64X and I've never heard a single complaint about compatibility.

- Improved event recording and playback.

** C64 changes
--------------

- Fixed some CPU opcodes.

- Added support for Magic Formel cart (preliminary).

- Improved TFE cart emulation.

- Fixed Final Cartridge III freeze bug.

I know that there are problems with Bruce Lee and maybe some others with the current version, they may have been fixed in the latest build, I give it a good test and let you know.

There is a gamebase configuration option that allows you to select the location of the gamebase files.  Have you used it?

to prevent the rather ugly skipping of the background during scrolling.. it's especially noticable in games like turrican.

VSync would be to correct screen tearing - which does not happen because the video frames are already displayed properly during the vblank period.  If you're saying that gameplay appears to stutter for you in all games, then it must be your configuration because no one else has complained about it.  You're probably using some kind of mis-match of NTSC/PAL.

I've tried NTSC, PAL, PAL60 modes. the background stuttering is very noticable in those games and happens not only on my xbox. any stage with parallax scrolling shows that very extremely.. it doesn't happen on winVICE and not on the real machine either (take i.e. the flying sequences in turrican 1 or stage 2-1 in the newly released fangame turrican 3).

I've tried Turrican using CCS64 and the tearing in the background scrolling is still there, but the forground scrolling is perfect, just like it is in all other C64 emus including Vice64X. So if the forground scrolling is perfect, I cant see how a VSYNC option would fix the tearing in the background scrolling, when the forground scrolling is already perfect.
