About 50% of my movie files (mainly avi) just stop by themselves after a minute or so. I tried rebooting etc but I just get the same problem everytime in the same place in the movie.

Sometimes it skips a little and goes weird and jumps to a later point in the movie.

I know the files are OK cos I can play them on my PC.

Any solutions to this?

try to use a different brand of cd that might help

Are you playing the movies from the hard drive or from cd?

What version of xbmp are you using?

This is an unusual problem, if you are playing the movies from the HDD then I would try re-installing xbmp, try using the latest version if you are not already doing so, I use 2.4 and it works fine every time.

i'm playing them from the HDD.

i am using XBMP 2.4

I tried re-installing it but it made no difference. It seems to a be problem with specific movies, I'm hoping future releases of XBMP will enable me to watch these movies, but actually I had 2.3 on there and it had the same problems with the same movies. Maybe I just have tons of dodgy movies (downloaded from soulseek).

not exactly sure this will work, but give this a go nonetheless.
Try deleting the system.bin file which is found:
/E/TDATA/0face007/
