Surreal Roms From Xbmc\shortcuts To Python Scripts
« on: December 11, 2007, 10:35:00 PM »

I'm trying to make a folder of shortcuts to roms I play the most.  For xport & zsnexbox emulators I am using the instructions here:
http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index....s_to_.xbe_files

Surreal doesn't support directly launching roms from the dashboard, but I've gotten a python script to launch specific roms in surreal from this thread:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/i...hp/t617466.html
Now my problem is that I need to make a shortcut to a the python scripts using a .cut file or a .xbe so that I can launch it from the same folder as my other shortcuts.

Is there any way to do this?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

Can't be done.

On the other hand, that script was eventually made redundant anyway.

Any idea how to use that patch with XBMC, such as in making .cut files?

Coreslump's command line patches (link) sound great but he is using Evox as a dashboard.
How do I get surreal auto launching to work from XBMC??? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It should be the exact same process as with the other emulators. Have you tried the guide you linked to?

Hmmm... no luck.

I've gotten .cut files to work for every emulator I've tried except Surreal.

here's a quote from that thread "Command Line Args W/ Xbox Runtime (c++ Question)"
QUOTE
Xport uses a custom launch parameter object. This means C++ code has to be written to construct the custom launch parameter object and invoke the Xport emu. Not all dashboard (such as Evox) support this.

My patch uses a command line argument which is much simpler. The emulator is simply executed with the extra information. All dashboards should support this.

I'm a noob, but it sounds like these patches don't launch the same way that xport emulators do which could make the .cut files not work to launch a rom directly.

If this is true how do I launch Surreal with the extra command ling arguments in XBMC?

Just a friendly bump...
Does anyone know how to launch Surreal roms directly from XBMC? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

I admit I never got around to trying this one myself...

Anyhoo, perhaps this is a question better suited to the emulation forum, or perhaps even the patch thread itself?

Thanks Bomb Bloke.
I posted to the emulation forum here in hopes someone will work out a way.
