I've said it once, I'll say it again: MKV files are containers, it's the codec and quality settings of the file that affect how XBMC will play it back.

Though such things are usually to do with MPlayer anyway.

Has the PC DVD drive detection been fixed? Last build it hung every time you inserted a disc, and yes I did include the proper lines in advancedsettings.xml.
Worked fine up till the recent builds.

Hello, I have the same problem, when a cd puts in the external reader the xbox is hung, some solution?

hi guys

IMDB seems to be OK for me, sometimes it takes a while, but hasn't locked up on me yet.

The issue I am having is that the movie info is not being added to the database. It downloads the thumb and info, but the next time I bring up the info, it goes to the net to retrieve it again.

Maybe a database delete is in order..?

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Regarding the stutter, tell me what you guys think from these screen shots. The stutter for me appears always during high action scenes. Take a look at the cache number. Normal scenes cache above 40%. Once it goes below 10% I get the stutter. Also, look at the fps. That drops as well. I've tried tweaking some of the cache settings, but it doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

I dont know if you tried using one of those new MPlayer.dll files or not but "mplayer_070214.zip" plays that company man 960x544 xvid perfectly for me. Stable 80% cache, fps, and 0 dropped frames. My cache settings in xbmc are 256k for anything concerning local network and im using the feb16build.

my friend I dont have any problems with avi's, might I suggest that you backup your settings and delete the XBMC folder anddo a fresh install. you might have several files corrupting your codec, appologies if you already tried that but then try the test mplayer it might fix your problem.

ahhh I remeber once I had a problem with an avi file but it turned out that the file was poorly coded so might be from that, try other avi's & see how it goes.  smile.gif

Argh! You guys don't get it, do you? MKV, AVI, it makes no difference. Both of them will stutter under certain settings and both of them will play fine the rest of the time. You want some concrete reasons, provide the encoding details.

As contingent says, the in-testing MPlayer builds provide much better performance then the old one.

I had a skipping problems with a divx file and I tryed to increase the cashe, but it did not work. Then I accidently turned of cashe while watching the file and to my suprise I had a smooth playback. This only happens with this particular file and it doesn' matter whether I stream it form NAS server or play it form xbox hard drive.
