In the XBMC user manuel, under USB suport device that are not compatable it states

"iPod (Apple iPod) which have more than 4GB in memory-size (doesn't work because they are larger than 4GB) "

Does this mean that the 2 or 4GB nanos would be supported.  I try not to ask any questions that I can look up, but I could not quite figure this out.  Has anybody tested this?  Could ther be any potential harm to the IPOD if I tested it?  I appreciate all the support the community has given me and welcome any feedback.

Thanks

Nano is unlikely to work, but you are free to give it a go.  There's not much chance of things going wrong, but ofcourse nothing is guaranteed.

Shuffle I believe works just fine, as it's more like a USB mass storage device.

Well me myself owning a 4gb mini.. I think it should be integrated into xbmc, or the code should be worked on, since probably alot of people on here have an ipod from 2-4gb.. which should not exceed that 4gb limit thing..

well, i didn't try for very long, but i tried my 4 GB 2nd Generation Nano on XBMC 2.0.1 and it mounted after 2-3 reboots of the Nano.  However, when selecting it as memory unit under music and file explorer, the folders were gibberish and it would not let me select anything.  (i also have my ipod to "manually manage music" and "enable disk use" which should be the better settings for use in xbmc i would assume)

and, no, nothing was harmed in the process - but i would still have your nano backed up just in case...
