ReplayTV still isn't working.  I'm getting either demux errors or error opoening thumb or both.  I've posted logs at sourceforge.

A temp fix *should* be to press the white button on the file and use the Play With.. button and then choose dvdplayer.

Whats the status on getting Live Tv streaming/ability to change channel from the PC? I'm guessing it'll take a mountain of code so probably wont happen for a long time, but im curious (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) It would be the final thing to compliment XBMC. I made a thread on it (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=575391 ) but no developers have replied. Sorry if this has been asked a million times before!

I know its been done in Linux using MythTV and there is a script for MediaPortal however MediaPortal doesnt allow live TV streaming yet as far as i can see, which is a pain!

I originally was using a name rather than an IP, but using an IP address doesn't seem to work either.  I am able to see the folders I have shared, but when I attempt to navigate inside any of my shared folders nothing happens.  The same thing occurs when I use the file manager to try and browse shares on my workgroup.

These errors only started with the recent SVN builds (post 2.01), and they only occur when I try to stream files from my Windows XP machine.  This does not happen when I stream from network drives - these stream flawlessly using SMB.  Files on DVD or USB stick play without problems as well.

The problem on XP seems to be limited to SMB streaming - I can use UPnP streaming using TVirsity without error, though TVirsity doesn't work as well as SMB for certain files, so I'd really appreciate it if someone could fix this bug.

Seems like a serious bug to me, and I can't believe I'm the only person seeing it...

Let me know if you need any more information...
Julie

crap. i though i'd finally be done with these god damn smb issues. but without debug logs and/or ethereal (tcpdump) traces it'd be hard to track them down.

elupus,

As requested, I'm supplying a debug log illustrating the issue.  You'll find the full log here:
Debug Log

I'm using the latest T3CH build from 1/1/07.  Streaming from my XP machine worked perfectly fine in the 2.01 XBMC build, and first broke with the Christmas T3CH build.  I'm using a softmodded 1.6 XBOX.

On my Windows XP machine (192.168.11.2), I can sucessfully get the list of shared folders.  When I try to view the contents of one of them (fansub3) the call fails, saying xbmc is unable to open the directory.  My XP machine's IP is static, and just for sanity's sake I confirmed the IP is correct.  Stopping the firewall makes no difference, and using my PC's name rather than the IP makes no difference.

I then connect to a networked drive connected to a Linksys NSLU (smb://LKGD8FCEE/Hdd_1_1_1).  There, you'll see that I can successfully navigate folders and I was able to stream a file with no problems.

I've used Ethereal once or twice at work, so I'm only a little familiar with it but if it will help resolve the issue I would be happy to install and run it on my home machine while trying to stream from XP. Though you may need to give me some hints for setup/filtering of the logs so I can give you what you need to solve the problem.

I appreciate all your help, and thanks to all the developers for making XBMC the awesome app that it is.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Julie

Eh, on the FTP serv it says Jan-01 and here it says Jan-02. There isn't a newer build than the one on the serv right?

QUOTE(XanTium @ Jan 3 2007, 01:56 AM) *

yeah, my mistake ... it's Jan-01, not 02.

Even if system info states otherwise:
"XBMC Build:pre-2.1 (Compiled : Jan 2 2007)"
and T3CH-README:
"XBMC SVN 2007-01-01 (1st of January 2007)"

I wonder if you got more than one HDD attached and shared on PC, Julie ?
I do and here's what I experience. If I start to get issues with SMB, and restart XBMC, the issues go away. Have you tested this ?

Running the same T3CH build and have multishare smb bookmarks where shares are spread over three hdd´s.

Tried both with ip and pc name streaming music, xvid, mpeg1/2, dvd´s ,mkv´s and pictures.

As i am home sick the xbox have been on from morning to evening and i havent had one lockup.

I use the TEST mplayer.dll but that doesn´t have anything todo with the smb code.

Running router (DLink 624+)->PC and XBOX (XBOX and PC both set to static DHCP via macadress)

XP sp2 with the built in firewall on and with router firewall on.

Worth mentioning, I have set my HDD's to sleep when they are idle. I suspect this has an effect on the SMB problems

jiles: either don't filter ( don't do anything else during the capture ). this i think is the best option. but it should be ok to filter on smb. (just write smb in filter box)

OK, I have an Ethereral trace that hopefully will help shed further light on the problem with SMB from a WinXP box.  I did not filter the trace at all - if you want to just look at the relevant portions you can focus on the communications between the XP box (192.168.11.2) and the XBOX (192.168.11.9) towards the middle of the log.  Here's the link:

http://www.mediafire.com/?5zmmjztijqz

Pike, I do have shares on three separate drives on my XP box.  Unfortunately, none of them will work over SMB, and a restart seems to have no effect.  In XP's Power Options, I have my hard drives set to never shut down while the PC is on - if this isn't what you meant when you talked about the hard drives sleeping when inactive please let me know.

If anyone needs more info from me to fix this issue I'll be happy to provide it.

Thanks for your help,

Julie

Current Setup: X1.6b, softmod 120GB (Dashboard E/Main/Apps/xbmc)

I have a small problem with this build.  I downloaded a fresh copy of this, MC360, Blackbolt-Classic, and the beta 3 of Ajax.  While in XBMC I created a folder E/Main/Apps/xbmc2007 and uploaded everything there and went into boXplorer to move "E/.../xbmc" to "F/" and rename "E/.../xbmc2007" to "E/.../xbmc".  I pressed "Black" to go back to the dashboard but forgot to clear the E/CACHE and X/Y/Z drives first.  It makes it to the new splash screen and just sits there (left it running for about 5 minutes to see if maybe it was just creating new xml's to use, but it didn't do anything).

Any help would be appreciated.

EDITED:  Forgot to mention, I put the two files from the TEST folder for the new dvdplayer where it said to try it out.  Not sure if that had anything to do with it.
