2.0 Support?
« on: May 28, 2006, 03:16:00 PM »

Hey i have the 21-05-2006 build of XBMC and i put the PM3 mod and PM3 SE in and when i choose it from
skins menu in appearances it looks the same.

This is what i had:(IMG:http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a336/EvilShindo/F5692_1_B.jpg)

This is how its supposed to look:(IMG:http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a336/EvilShindo/xbmc.jpg)

Notice the bars don't have white in them.
Why is this happening?does this mean the build i have doesn't support 2.0 skins or features?

Thank you. Highly appreciated. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

hi, i'm the dude who made/is working on PM3 Mod. where exactly did you download it from? cuz there's like 3 places where it's online, but only one is up to date. as far as i can remember, none of the copies of PM3 Mod that i put online come with backdrop graphics, so unless you manually put in the Project Mayhem III ones (which i also put online), you shouldn't be seeing them backdrops.
here's the link to the latest build and a backdrop pack:
http://xbmc.ckdvt.com/html1/index.php?opti...er&ascdesc=DESC

also, i'm afraid i have no idea what you mean by "Notice the bars don't have white in them." you mean the appearance of the "scanlines" which overlay the backdrop images?
and finally, what's PM3 SE? haven't heard of it, so i'm curious (i collect skins (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif))

What i mean by the "the bars have white on them" is that it seems like i have an older version of PM3 like not the one using the 2.0 skinning engine like this one:(IMG:http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a336/EvilShindo/xbmc.jpg)

And PM3 SE means "Special Edition" an updated and heavily modified PM3 using 2.0 skinning engine standards. The regular PM3(the one that comes by default with every XBMC build) isn't built on the advanced 2.0.

You can get it here:My Webpage

so i guess it doesn't show like that because right now the current build i have doesn't support skins utilizing the 2.0 engine. i read the changelog.

i must be blind cuz i cannot figure out what that means. i don't see any 'white bars' on either pic. am i crazy?
also, why would the version of PMIII included in the T3CH builds not be "up to date"? can you post specific technical details as to exactly what you are talking about?

ok sorry if i wasn't clear enough but i meant the gray in the very first pic for "My programs", My Videos, etc the interface looks different than the 2nd pic.

Don't you see the difference between the 2 at all?

the 2nd pic using the 2.0 engine is in all black.

Also the PM3 version inlcluded in the T3CH builds i think, doesn't use the 2.0 skinning engine like for example, skins like PDM(Project Dark Matter), MC360, and more.

well AFAIK there is no way NOT to "use" the skinning engine, since it's built into XBMC. the latest T3CH builds have versions of PMIII which have conditional visiblity, animation, etc. i don't really know of any 2.0 features NOT in the PMIII skin actually, can you point some out? i'd love to know what more stuff i can do in my goofing around (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

yeah i did, but i honestly think your grasp of the technical details of "what is the 2.0 skin engine" aren't very solid. for the third time, please post specific technical details about features of the skinning engine that your skin uses that Project Mayhem III does not. also, keep in mind that i have looked at your skin. blah

"Also the PM3 version inlcluded in the T3CH builds i think, doesn't use the 2.0 skinning engine like for example, skins like PDM(Project Dark Matter), MC360, and more."

Dude, have you noticed the animation in PM3 included with T3CH builds.  That is using features that have been added to the skinning engine to make it up to a new 2.0 stage.  I have no idea what the difference is in the pictures you detail, but I dont see it as being a problem... unless I'm missing something big?

Please do inform of how white bars or something makes it "using the 2.0 skinning engine".

Sorry to be sarcy in tone, but I genuinly am intrigued as to what the problem is here...
