Poor Mpeg Motion Playback

Using Hauppuage PVR 150 to record TV using Beyond TV 4.2. Works fine for playback on computer monitor but when played back to TV screen via XBMC image is very blocky for horizontal motion. Obviously I'm doing something wrong but what?

Have a May T3ch build and XBMC will play back divx fine. The Hauppuage 150 records Mpeg2 I think.

Fiddled with most settings on XBMC player with no apparent impact.

Any suggestions??

video osd, turn on deinterlace or sync field in interlaced handling

The deinterlace options appear to only affect the original MPlayer.  Can anyone confirm that they do not affect the output of the new video player?
