From the sticky at the top:

What can XBMC do?

http://www.xboxmediacenter.de/info_project.htm
- Subtitle support (MicroDVD, srt, smi, vplayer, rt, ssa, aqt, sub, jss, mpl & VobSub)

The sticky and search functions are there for a reason...

ok let me try this agian, i downloaded dbz subbed its just an avi file you can enable/disable the subs if you want. when i first played it on my pc the subtitle didnt work in any of my players, then i install vobsub2.23
then the  subtitle started working. so i tried it in xbmc the subtitles didnt work then i went in the audio/subtitle menu and it says no subtitles even though i had it enable. and im wondering if there anyway to get it to work. i hope this cleared it up.

xbmc does support vobsubs just fine.. thou we don't support subtitles in avi's.. nor is it likely we ever will.. it's such an uggly hack the way it's done, so our main player (mplayer) will never support it. potentially our dvdplayer, but that is still far off.

vobsub support in xbmc hasn't worked in xbmc for like eons.

Don't believe me?...Install xmbc 1.0. bam! vobsubs work fine. No recent builds pull subpicture streams out of vob files. Damn shame that, because it can be quite helpful.

( I should qualify that with the statement that I have not tried any April builds.)

So forget all the snide rtfm posts above & suck it up. Perhaps some day it'll work again.
