I'll try loading the DVD in XBMC, and if it starts playing in a foreign language, then I'll restart my xbox with the chip off to use the MSDash.

I would use DVDX2 but I abso-fuckin-lutely hate the button arrangments. And the program just doesn't look very professional...

But I'd say that about 3 out of every 5 dvd's will play in english for me in XBMC so I don't have to load it in MSDash, lol

@Danny

If your DVD starts to play in a foreign language, you can bring up the audio menu and then select the english sound track from within XBMC.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you hit start or back, the video player menu comes up.  From there go to the audio section and then simply select the audio you want to hear (English, French, Espanol...etc)

This should save you a lot of time and aggravation from turning off your chip/softmod (whatever) and using the MS Dashboard DVD player.

Not trying to screw everyone up with too much info., but I use the default auto dvd play feature of XBMC (not sure what player it's using on the box).  It seems like they're almost there!  Way to go XBMC Team.  Keep up the awesome work.

Edit by JayDee:

Removed info on how to enable the dvdplayer as it is not meant to be used by the public yet. I hope you respect the developers wishes on this!

XBMC does not decrypt every dvd correctly, so I prefer Avalaunch, never failed to play a title yet + you get menus.

Sorry about that oversight, JayDee.  Not trying to give you any more grief than you already deal with in these forums.

I should have known better than to even write about it - it'll only cause more griefing and griping posts than it's worth.

Humble apologies, sir.

XBMC alone for my DVD needs. Its one of the quickest dvd players ive ever used. Barring a few bugs which are constantly being eliminated it is most excellent.
