Kai Link On The New Mc360 Skin
« on: September 09, 2006, 06:26:00 PM »

Hey, I just got the new MC360 skin, and it has a Connect to Xlink option at the very beginning. Wheneve I use Kai Link I have to get on my computer and go into games on the computer and then go on my xbox and go the game to get into it. Is there anyway, that I can just leave my computer in a spot and just turn the xbox in and just connect to Kai Link and start playing without getting up and messing with it on the computer? Thanks

ah, well I have gotten to the point where I am connected and I can go in and see the games and all the people in the games, I just can't figure out how to go into a game and actually play with the people. I have done it before, but for some reason it just seems like its a hit and miss. and that is with the computer, before I actually got the XBMC Kai Link set up. but I just can't figure it out, I go into a room full of games on Halo 2 and then I load the game, and system link.... nothing, no games. I am getting frusterated, hope someone can help.

You need to start the Kai-engine on PC and set the correct network route from XBMC
You need to set the Engine IP address in the 'System blade' / 'My Programs' / 'Xlink Kai' options.
So set your Xtag (your Kai username)
Set your password (the one you use on Kai)
Set the Engine IP Address (your Netwrok card, or router, basically your Computers connection to your Xbox, I use a netwrok card and crossover cable so my Engine IP is 192.168.0.1, which is the IP for my network card)
Make sure you allow Xlink Kai to have access through your Firewall (Do not disable it like many people say, just allow Xlink Kai as an exception)

Once you are sure you have all the above done then start the Engine on PC (start kai as usual but leave it at message arena)
Choose to connect to Xlink Kai from XBMC
Choose your game
Find an arena and join
You should now be in a game ready to play away

There is one problem with this method, that is if you want to switch games you need to reboot the xbox and begin again from the Connect to Xlink Kai part of the process.

Hope this helps you wink.gif

Start Kai config on your computer and set that up to just start engine (for dashboard use it says with that option). Fil inn username and password etc etc. close it. Then start kai from all programs. Now the computer is set, and u dont need to think about that anymore. Now connect to kai with xbmc, and find an arena. ex. Halo 2-europe-someones server-free slot. Now move the highlight over to "Play" button on the left hand. And in game choose system link, and the game will pop up there (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Btw, as long as the engine is running on your computer, xbmc will connect to it on startup.

It would be nice if XBMC allowed you to join say ... XboX>First Person Shooters>Halo 2>Americas ... and not worry about an Actual Arena, but be able to load the game there and see all of the arenas when you start "looking for games"

Actually that has nothing to do with XBMC but with Kai itself. Everyone once in a while I play Halo 2 and the host ends the game and leaves If you log out and back in from the halo 2 game you will see all the arenas. Not sure why it does it like that. But I do agree it would be nice to be able to see all the hosted games from the beginning. As a side note I am using kaistation off of the linksys router.

if you wanna see all the arenas from the start, just navigate to the halo 2 -> americas in xbmc, then press the back button and go to games and load halo. that should show all the arenas in there!  wink.gif
