I think these adds are a great idea. They don't hurt anyone, and it's a way to make some money.

The more I've been reading the forums today.. the less I notice these new ads. It's great that Xantium is working on a non ad version though. That's above and beyond what many would do considering our situation. Kudos to the Chief.

For everyone who hates these ads:

Install Mozilla Firefox and the Adblock-plugin. Now add the following item to Adblock:

*intellitxt.com*

There, your ads are gone. Note that this method is legal, since you control what goes into your computer and what not.

Like I said before, I have nothing against adblock software.
Feel free to use such a plugin on this site.

There'd be no reason to ban anyone for blocking ads.  Only the people who frequent the site would do such a thing.  The majority of the bandwidth and revenue would probably come from guests, google searches, etc.  There's no reason those people should get the luxury of the ad-free version.  smile.gif

X-S has always been very quick to offer ways to get around any sort of ads, banner or otherwise.  Amazing how generous the site has been in so many ways.

I'm just happy to do my part.  I know how expensive it is maintaining something like this from first hand experience so I appreciate everything that they're doing.  It's unfortunate that maintaining sites like this is so expensive because we'd all prefer to have no ads at all.

There is spyware that does this though, so at first they must just have presumed it was spyware.

I went and blocked them off at the source; I put them in my hosts file, redirected to 0.0.0.0. No more ads from them! Put this in your host file if you don't have mozilla firefox and adblock:

0.0.0.0 uk.intellitxt.com
0.0.0.0 itxt.vibrantmedia.com
0.0.0.0 www.vibrantmedia.com
0.0.0.0 vibrantmedia.com

Thanks, that is awsome.  I never really new about the hosts file, now I will be using it to block all sorts of crap.  Thanks!   beerchug.gif

since I have adblock, it's okay, but - honestly I'd at least like to see something like $30-50 a year for ad-free forums and free forums with ads or something...
