he's saying that becasue he's a wannabe mod. I haven't seen him do that, too much, but he wouldn't have said anything if he wasn't

What about setting up an xbox-scene shop?? I have set up a couple of zen-cart sites it is really easy and sexy . You guys could sell all kinds of merchandise on it .

Edit: Including mod chips ( cut out the retailers)

DAMN! I thought I had spy/adware last night, ran 2 spyware checks (ms anti spyware and spysweeper).

At least now I know =)

The reason I thought it was ad/spyware was because this is a big problem with IE, I use to get adware that underlined things in green like it's doing here, due to adware.

First of all you should know the forum has always operated at a loss. The banner ad you see on top maybe covers 20% of the forum server bills.
Forum is 'financed' by the mainsite.

While that is not really a problem I'm sure you all understand lots will change in the coming months with the Xbox 360. The revenue from modchip stores will drop at a high rate and we'll have to make sure we can keep everything alive including all the sites we host for free (allxboxskins, xbox-saves and many many dev teams).

Also for now these ads are just a 'test' ... it will run for a few weeks and I'll see if it's worth it. I tried to search for the best way of advertising without crapping up the site with pop-up/unders, layers ads or other shit. These ads (I think) are very clean, they only show up if you go over it (noone forces you to ... and diff. between normal links and these intelliTXT ads are very clear, so you can't confuse them) and are very targeted (so they make sense).

I also plan to make a separated skin (of the 'xbox-scene v2' skin probably) that will be without those ads, so that people that really have problem with these ads will be able to remove them.
My theory is that people who really hate ads, won't click them, so I can aswell not show them to those users. That's why I have no problem with ad blocking software either.

man I really wish somebody would have posted this in a sticky in the BST forum

would have eliminated a lot of guess work, and with the site at snail speed this time of day it takes some work to get any post to show up, much less read several to find out who monkeyed with your post

if it means paying for the site, I guess we put up with it, but it REALLY should have been a sticky in the proper forum that it addresses.

it's a necessary evil. nobody likes ads...but everybody likes the forums. well the ads keep the forums afloat so we may as well get used to them. instead of bitching about the new ads, perhaps it's a better idea to thank everyone that keeps this place up and running smoothly (for the vast majority of the time).

i do think it should have been a general anouncement though because i also thought i had somehow picked up some spyware or something.
