Using Xbox As Video Transcoder
« on: June 17, 2007, 03:03:00 PM »

I've been doing some video converting work but all it does is slow down my main machine (I really need a dual-core processor..)

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had written homebrew that would transcode video without having linux installed. I know the xbox isn't that fast but at least it'd offset it from my main machine and let me do other things while it does a batch.

Thanks.

To do that would be simply...pointless.At the rate an xbox would be doing the coding a pc could do it probably 6 times as fast. The xbox only has 64 megs of ram you know. Not that much of a power house is it?but what i'm trying to get at is at the rate an xbox would be doing it, it would tie up your xbox 4x as much as it would your pc.What i just do is I just leave my computer on right before i go to bed and let it transcode the video during the night.I'm sure you're not gonna be using your pc in your sleep anyways! biggrin.gif Nuff said.
