Help With Dvd2xbox...
« on: December 04, 2006, 12:30:00 AM »

Hey all, i need help copying legitimately obtained xbox games to my PC

ATM i have the current setup:
v1.0 xbox (softmodded)
Obviously default hdd
XBMC as my dash
DVD2XBOX - I also have it setup to share a folder with my PC via SAMBA

Now i put in the original Splinter Cell : CT and told it to copy game directly to the shared folder on my PC.
It said it couldnt because "ACL Processing is not supported via SAMBA"

I then went into Settings --> General and disabled "ACL processing" and "ACL RM/etc/etc"

I tried for a second time copy the game to my PC but got the same message despite ACL processing being disabled.

It will however work if i try and copy the game to my hdd, however this is not an option as my hdd isnt big enough for the whole game.

Thanks all for any help

EDIT: Alternatively if you guys could suggest a different program other than dvd2xbox to copy a game to a pc shared folder then that would also be cool. I thought of trying to use Qwix and Avalaunch but i was unable to find Avalaunch on any torrent sites. I do have Qwix tho.

1) Why don't you just FTP into the D: drive and grab the files.

2) Any dashboard will work for the above, XBMC included.

3) Get software from #xbins.  Tutorial on the X-S.com tutorials page.

4) Don't mention torrent sites again.

Thanks buddy, am doing that now. However if anyone ever wanted to copy to their PC and this method works then why would dvd2xbox have copy via SAMBA option as this method is by far a lot simpler.

Even if you copied the game to your hdd you would still need to ftp in to get the files. Anyways...

There are a few games that have filenames that are too long or have invalid characters and won't work on the fatx filesystem.  dvd2xbox patches them.  That's pretty much the only reason I know of, I usually just ftp them.

The ACL message is just a notification and it's just a bug that it appears even when deactivated.
The ACL processing has nothing to do with the failure that files couldn't be copied.
Can you copy files via the fila manager to your smb share? If yes and not via the DVD->smb option it is also a bug if not you might have not the necessary rights to write on the shared disc.

I recently purchased a modded X box running evox, XBMC, and DVD2xbox. Default HDD. I have the xbox networked with my computer no problem. Able to stream media direct from PC using XBMC. So I would assume the share right s are set ok.

When I try to use the "Backup game to SMB share." I recieve " ACL processing and auto patching aren't supported via smb"

How do I trouble shoot this problem?

You mentioned that I may need to enable user rights on my XP's shared folder... I f XMBC is able to stream no problems, wouldn't that mean that the share rights are set correctly on the PC drive.

the version of dvd 2xbox I'm using is 0.7.7

FYI I tried to edit the XML file to include network info such as the host:MSHOME and the ip of my computer: 192.168.0.11    Do I need to specify a path maybe in the "SMB:\\" field,  So as to upload to the shared directories I've specified on my Computer.

Please help.

I have already been using ftp, but I'd like to skip that step if possible. Inko wthis has worked for others int he past.

I need help please. I really want to get this setup..

If anyone can help I will be very thankfull.

If you are streaming from a samba share, that's just reading.  Trying to put files on it via dvd2xbox is writing.  There is a HUGE difference between read/write permissions.  I'm betting your xbox doesn't have write permissions.

I had the same problem too ---> "ACL Processing is not supported via SAMBA" when backing to my PC through Samba share. I found that if I change the destination folder name to fewer character, the backup will go fine. I'm using DVD2Xbox v0.7.7.

guys as said in my previous posts this isn't a problem this is just a notification which unfortunately also pops up if ACL is disabled. I never implemented ACL processing via SMB thats all. You get a clean 1:1 copy if you do a dump to SMB. Some games need to be patched afterwards and this does Craxtion and Qwix for you.
