I'm having trouble adding / installing Media Extender on my (old model) xbox. I have inserted the Media Extender CD in my xbox drive and have the setup screen on my TV showing the 8-digit number that I'm supposed to enter in the "Add Extender" screen on my Vista PC.
After entering the number, Vista goes successfully through the first step (configuring PC) but get's stuck on the 2nd step (finding Extender) and eventually comes back with the message "Extender not found" ...
I've gone through just about every setting that could be blocking communication between my xbox and my PC (i.e .firewall, UPnP, etc.) and have even connected both to a network hub so that boradcast packets would be seen by both devices. I have also captured network traffic on the Vista PC (using Netmon 3.0) and I can see UDP packets on port 3776 coming from the xbox Media Extender every second or so ... Vista just doesn't seem to do anything with them ... (IMG:
