Chkdsk Or Scandisk For Xbox Hdd
« on: September 22, 2006, 03:14:00 PM »

Well, i've had some problems first, after loosing my whole F partition (300GB)... then, i've changed the hdd drive believing the hdd was damaged. Now, with the new one, i just discover games and homebrew that initially (when installed) worked, and now, not anymore (usually i get blank screen or the message "the disk you're using might be scratched or damaged").

The big question is... is there any homebrew or way to check the disk/partition for errors/bads ?!? If so, can you please tell me about it ? Thx in advance. Have a nice day !

Make sure that any one partition on the Xbox is under 256GB, and that you don't try to put more than 4096 files into the same directory. That should be enough to make sure nothing goes wrong.

There isn't, as far as I know, an integrity check for FATX volumes.

I'm sorry to bump an 20 day old thread, but can you clarify? Did you mean a partition higher than 200 GB or a hard drive higher than 200 gb? Because I was planning on getting a 300 gb for my box and have seen others do it.

The hard drive can be as large as you want. Just don't have a partition on the hard drive larger than 256GB.

Actually the drive can't, the limit is about a terabyte smile.gif
Even with 32k clusters the partition size limit is 512GB so once you have both F and G at 512GB you can't use any more space wink.gif

Simply use a bios that supports F & G and you'll be fine.

Edit: Avalaunch dashboard has a scandisk option. It is read only though, and I'm not sure how complete or accurate it is. It was included for testing and development, but I don't think it ever got finished.
